I unlock the door to my house

I unlock the door to my house. I glance back at Anatoly who's sat in his car, wating for me to walk safely inside. I send him a smile and he returns the gesture before leaving.

I shut the door and turn to see my two best friends fighting to get to me first. Jasper and Kamari push each other and stumble towards me.

"How did it go?" Jasper asks first.

"Was that him? Did he drop you off?" Kamari adds.

"The date went well but I don't think it's going to work out." I state. "We're quite different." I'm not entirely sure I believe that and that thought scares me.

"You know what they say-" Kamari starts.

"Opposites attract." Jasper finishes.

"Hey I was going to say that." She says.

"Too bad." He returns.

"I have other things to be focusing on other than men." I tell them.

"As a feminist, yes. As your best friend who thinks that guy was smoking hot, no." Jasper says.

"If you like him so much, you date him." I state.

"I will." He says and I realise what I've just done.

"No, don't." I say, I can't have him unknowingly dating a mafia leader.

"So you do like him?" Jasper asks, rasing a brow.

"It's complicated."

"It always is." Kamari says. "Now you need to tell us everything."

We all move onto the sofa where I begin to tell them about my date.

"It wasn't that interesting."

"He drove you home because he didn't want you to walk in the dark." Jasper coos.

"I walk home all the time in the dark."

"Did he pay for dinner?" She asks.

"Yes and I had quite a few glasses of red wine, the expensive stuff."

"And does he want to take you out again?" She questions.

"Yes."

"And what's stopping you?"

I hesitate because I'm unsure how to answer without the real reason. "I don't know." I settle for.

"I think you should go for it." He says. "What have you got to lose?"

"My life."

My two best friends scoff. They think I'm joking but I'm really not.

"Just think about it." Kamari finishes with.

I nod and make my way upstairs, leaving the two of them to sleep on the sofa. I've tried to get them both to take my bed when they stay here but they both prefer the sofa.
