"I can't believe you, you're a fucking idiot." I state. "I told you that thing was dangerous and now we're stuck in a house with no power and a lion on the loose." I shouldn't say can it get worse because people who say that normally end up with worse but realistically, can it?
"Language, there are children present." Anatoly (the idiot in question) says and we both look over to Aiyden who's holding Anatoly's phone and the only source of light in the room.
"A lion? Can we see it?" He says innocently. "Lions are my favourite."
"Aiyden, sweetie this is not a...nice lion. This lion is a mean one." I turn to Anatoly in a hushed whisper. "What the hell are we supposed to do?"
"I suppose we should wait for the power to come on before calling animal control."
"Are you kidding me?" I whisper shout. "I'm telling you right now Anatoly king, you're the first one to go."
"Go where?" Aiyden asks.
"If we just say inside, we'll be fine. We're in here and it's out there. She can't get to anyone." He says.
I pinch the bridge of my nose. This man can't be serious right now.
"That's what you said about it's cage. You know the one it got out of."
"I didn't even think about what would happen if there was a power cut, it's not my fault."
"It very much is your fault." I argue.
We hear a loud bang and the three of us instantaneously look off into it's direction. Anatoly's wide, worried eyes meet mine.
"That didn't sound good." He says. He picks up Aiyden and grabs my hand. The two of us walk backwards while keeping our eyes on the direction of the noise.
As we back up into the bedroom the animal comes into view at the end of the hall. Although it's a distance away, there's no barrier between us until Anatoly quickly shuts and locks the door behind us.
"Oh fuck." I say, utterly shocked that there was just a lion in Anatoly's house...that there still is. I'm going to have nightmares for weeks.
If we make it out of this alive I'm making him get rid of that thing right before I kill him.
"Was that a real life lion?" Aiyden asks, in awe.
"It's Velocity, my pet." Anatoly says to him. "She's meant to stay outside though otherwise she'll probably wreck the house."
"So why is she inside?" Aiyden asks.
"She probably wanted to get out of the rain." Anatoly says calmly.
"So why did you shut the door. Can't we go and see her?"
"Not at the minute, she's..um..." He looks at me for a second, trying to think of a response appropriate for a three year old. "Looking for something and we're better to stay out of her way." He says.
