Aiyden and I are sat on the carpeted ground of one of Anatoly's many living rooms. We could sit on the nearby sofa but Aiyden has a full toy set up going on, on the floor, courtesy of his new best friend Anatoly. He brought a stash of Aiyden's toys from our house.
I really have no clue how the two of them are now buddy buddy.
I hear a ringing in the distance that seems to be getting closer. I look over to Aiyden who's happily playing and letting nothing disturb him. "Can you hear that?" I ask and he nods in reply.
After a minute the ringing gets noticeably louder. Then Anatoly walks in the room with my phone in his hand and my questions are answered.
"This guy won't stop calling you. I suggest you take care of it before I take care of him." He says annoyedly, holding out my phone for me to take.
I stand up and take the phone from his outstretched hand. I look down at the contact name and see that it's Jasper calling me. I accept the call and move to the corner of the room out of the way of any listening ears.
"Rey?" I hear his voice speak through the phone.
"Hi." I reply.
"Where the hell have you been?" He asks, fear present in his voice.
"I'm just at Anatoly's house." I say casually.
"What- What do you mean you're at Anatoly's house." He stutters, I've never once known him to stutter.
"I mean I'm at his house." I state. I don't know what else he wants me to say. It's not like I'm going to explain the whole kidnapping situation.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Why haven't you been answering my calls? I was worried." Well now I feel bad. I wasn't really thinking about this whole situation from different perspectives, I've just been high on adrenaline.
"Sorry, I didn't bring my charger with me. I've only just thought to use Anatoly's." I lie.
"Why haven't you been at your house in days and why didn't you tell anyone before disappearing?"
"I didn't think it was that much of a big deal." Correction, I didn't have time to because I was kidnapped.
"Don't do that again." He states. "I didn't know where you were or if you were hurt. I almost showed up to Anatoly's house with guns blazing I figured your new boyfriend had probably kidnapped you away from your best friends." It takes everything in me not to laugh at his remark. I know Jasper well enough to know it's a joke but it's also very much what happened.
"You don't even know where Anatoly lives." I state, trying to change the topic.
"Right, but I'm sure I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy that has Anatoly's address."
