"He's been taken." Anatoly says the words no parent ever wants to hear.

The world around me stops and time seems to freeze and yet my heart rate speeds.

"No." I say. "You said that you would protect him so where the hell is he?" I ask in disbelief, sadness in my voice.

"I believe Mikhail has him." He states and my case of denial worsens.

"You're a fucking part of this, aren't you?" I can't believe I trusted him. He was using me and now he has my son.

"I'm not a part of this." He says, seemingly shocked at my insinuation. All I can think about is Aiyden being gone. He can't be gone.

I've spent years keeping Aiyden away from Mikail and suddenly when I catch feelings for Anatoly he's been taken. He has to have had a hand in this some way or another.

All of my efforts to protect Aiyden were for nothing because now he has my little boy.

I made myself vulnerable to Anatoly and now Aiyden is gone.

"Tell me where my son is." I say. My eyes fill with tears, a mix of hatred and sadness.

"I don't know. But we'll get him b-"

"You've done enough." I say harshly.

"And what's that supposed to mean?" He asks.

"This is all your fault."

"How is this my fault?" He says, outraged by the idea.

"You promised me you would protect him. You lied to me about that, for all I know you told Mikhail exactly where to find Aiyden."

"I wouldn't do that." He states. I really want to believe him but I've let my feelings for him cloud my judgement and I can't do that anymore, not if I'm going to have any chance of getting my son back. "I didn't lie about protecting him, I tried." He lies. "I should've tried harder but I didn't think he'd be taken from school. Look, this argument can wait until after we get Aiyden back."

"I agree." Aiyden is my priority.

I turn to walk back out of the room.

"Where are you going?" He asks from behind me.

"To find my son."

"We should-"

"We aren't doing anything. I don't trust you won't tell Mikhail what I'm planning." Which is his death and if he's hurt even a single hair on Aiyden's head, I'll make sure he suffers immensely.

I leave Anatoly and quickly rush back upstairs to grab my phone.

"Reyna?" Jasper says as I walk back into the room he's still sat in. "Why are you shaking, what's wrong?" He asks as I frantically search the room to find my phone.
