"Anatoly?" I say. I feel the warmth of his hand as it encases mine underneath the covers. The darkness of the bedroom surrounds us but since we've been in here a while and my eyes have adjusted to the light I can see Anatoly practically clear as day.
"Yes, darling?" He replies.
I've been debating whether or not to ask this awkward question for the past half an hour. I've decided it's better to just know now rather than getting tangled up in miscommunication.
"Our relationship, is it exclusive?" I ask.
I feel Anatoly tense under my hold.
"You're my wife, of course our relationship is exclusive." He answers.
"Just checking." I don't fully know what I feel for Anatoly, I'm still figuring it out but I know I'd be upset if I saw him with another woman. I didn't want to fool myself into thinking we're something if I was just another girl to him.
"Would you go back to him?" Anatoly asks breaking the silence. I'm confused as to who he's referring to.
"Who?"
"Aiyden's dad." He says. "Something has obviously happened between you two and I'm sure you'll tell me eventually but I need to know, if he wanted you back, if he had changed, would you go back to him?"
"Never. Not in a million years would I ever even consider it."
"Not even for the sake of Aiyden? It is his dad after all."
"Aiyden is better off without him." The world would also be better off without him. There was no side of him that showed any semblance of good.
"Did you love him?"
"I've never truly loved anybody in a romantic way." I state. "Besides, Aiyden was the product of a one night stand. There was no way I could fall in love that quickly."
Anatoly's eyes widen. "One night stand? You could've told me that before I didn't use a condom."
I roll my eyes and point a finger at his chest. "You were the one who insisted." I state. "Anyway, do you not know that it only takes one time to make a baby?"
Anatoly runs a hand down his face. "I've already adopted one kid today, I'm not ready for another just yet."
"Next time don't stick your penis where it doesn't belong."
He moves his hand to smirk at me. "Please, it was exactly where it belonged. Want me to prove it?"
I narrow my eyes. If looks could kill, my kill count would be way higher than it already is.
"You know, I forget you're a killer." He states.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I ask.
He shrugs. "Well the girls I've been with have never actually known what I do for a living, never mind be a part of it. It's created a barrier with intimacy but you...you know all my dirty secrets and you're not afraid to get your hands bloody."
