The day has barely even begun and yet I never thought my wedding day would be like this. Then again, I never thought I'd have a child as a result of a one night stand. I planned to settle down before even thinking of having children.
My life is by no means conventional but I had the strange idea that I could plan what my future would look like. It obviously didn't work out how I'd imagined.
I wish things could be different but this is just the way they are. The reality is that I'm getting married today and while it may not be for the love of my partner, it is for the love of my child. I'm doing this to protect us both.
I pace around the room, my mind working overtime from all the useless overthinking.
I don't even have a dress or anything, everything was so last minute and I'm so under prepared and overwhelmed.
Aiyden has gone off with Valentina and Leo, which are the only two people other than my friends that know what's really going to happen today. Everyone else thinks that Anatoly has ordered a meeting to discuss business with them, they're not expecting to witness his marriage to me.
I hear a knock on the door and my panicked steps falter. I freeze in place.
I walk over to the door and not a moment later Anatoly has passed me and is now inside the room. I roll my eyes and shut the door behind him.
"I thought it's bad luck for the groom to see his bride on the day of their wedding." I state because what the hell is he doing?
"I don't believe in luck." He states, dumping a dress cover bag on the bed.
"What's that?" I ask even though I'm fairly certain I know what's inside.
"I've brought you a dress. It was hard to find one with such short notice but this was one of my mother's that I kept after she passed. It's not big and grand or anything extraordinary but it seemed to be one she quite liked. Figured you might be able to make use of it."
He unzips the bag and carefully takes out the long, cream, white dress.
"The whole wedding isn't going to be as grand as I would've liked it to be but I'm still trying to make it at least a little elegant. I know this dress isn't the best but it's the best I have right now. You're free to wear one of your own, I just thought I'd give you the offer."
My eyes are fixed on the dress.
"I like it." I say with a smile.
"So you'll wear it?" He asks, hopefully.
"Yes." I agree.
The dress is really pretty, I definitely would've chosen something a lot less basic and with a lot more detailing but we're making the best of a bad situation here.
"Good." He says. "Now, follow me." He orders.
Before I get chance to object he's out of the room and if I want answers I have no choice but to follow him.
