Chapter 40: Christmas

2 months pass. Michelle is grieving. She lost her father and is sad a lot. Mattheo understands it and tries to help her, but he also feels guilty. Guilty because Sirius saved him and died. Michelle doesn't see it that way. Voldemort is weak now as his horcrux is destroyed, and he can't take control over Mattheo anymore, but Mattheo can see that Michelle is hurt. She just lost her father. Mattheo understands how much Sirius meant to her. And she is still very sad. He sees her cry sometimes. Mattheo tries to be there for her. They spend a lot of time together and hang out. He takes his responsibility as her boyfriend very seriously. And yet he also understands that she needs time on her own to process the loss of her father, who meant a lot to her. He is supportive and sweet and does everything in his power to make her feel better.

And suddenly, it's Christmas. Michelle is sitting in the common room alone. Almost all students are at home with their family. She has no family left. Except for Mattheo. He stayed with her. Mattheo sits next to Michelle with coffee in his hands. He can see that Michelle is sad, and he knows that the holiday season is extremely hard for her. But he will support her through this. So he tries his best to cheer her up.
"Don't worry, Michelle. This is not the end. Things will get better. You have me, I am your family. I am not going anywhere." his tone sounds sweet, and he smiles at her as he lays his head on her shoulder.
"I know. I just still miss him, you know, " she leans against his shoulder. His eyes fill with sadness, and he caresses her hair.
"I know, Michelle. I know..."
he sighs softly. "He meant the world to you. And I understand why you miss him a lot. He had a huge impact on your life. But remember, he is always there, inside of you. And he will always watch over you, and he will always be there to guide you." his tone sounds comforting, and he squeezes her hand.
"Mattheo, you are the love of my life. Do you know that.. I have a gift for you." Michelle takes a small package out of her pocket.
His eyes light up when he notices that Michelle has a gift for him.
"You got me a gift?" His tone sounds surprised and excited.
"You know that you don't have to get me anything..." A huge smile appears on his face as he leans closer and looks at her.
"I know, but you deserve it." Mattheo opens it, and there are two bracelets in there. "These bracelets are charmed. It will glow red when the other person is in danger. "
"Wow! These look awesome! Really? And they are magical?" he sounds excited, and he smiles.
he takes his bracelet and puts it on his wrist. And he puts the other bracelet on Michelle's wrist.
"You know Michelle, I will always do my best to keep you safe." he looks at her and caresses her hair.
"I know. And I will always protect you too. " She hugs him.
Mattheo hugs Michelle tightly as he wraps his arms around her.
"I love you, Michelle. You are the love of my life. And I will always keep you safe." his voice sounds sweet, and his tone is sincere.

"Can you imagine marrying me one day?" I look at him, laying in his arms.
Mattheo looks into Michelle's eyes as he caresses her hair.
"I want to marry you. I love you, and we belong together. I don't want to be without you, Michelle. You are the one for me." his eyes are filled with love, and his voice sounds hopeful.
"You know, you don't know what will happen the next months. We are 18, we could sign the papers tomorrow, " She jokes around. Both Laughing.
"Are you proposing to me?" A playful grin appears on his face as he looks at her.
She laughs. "What if I would?" She jokes.
Mattheo looks serious now. Even if it's a joke or not to her, he is dead serious.
"Michelle... Do you want it?" he looks at her with a serious expression. He wants to make sure that she 100% sure about this.
"I want to spend my life with you. I would go anywhere with you, " Mattheo sighs softly.
"Then... would you like to marry me tomorrow?" his tone sounds a little bit nervous, but he seems sure about his own decision. He looks at her and then at his own arm, which has the bracelet. A smile appears on his face.
"Let's do it, Mattheo." she takes his head in her hands. "I want this whole life just with you." his heart is racing. He looks at her and smiles. He can't believe what just happened.
"Yes! Yes, Michelle! Yes, I want to spend my life with you! Yes, let's do it!" he speaks quickly. He is very excited.
He takes Michelle in a big hug and kisses her passionately.
She laughs. "I can't believe it. We are really doing it. " Mattheo is still smiling. His heart is beating at a thousand miles per hour, and his face looks like he is in a dream right now.
"Yes... It is unbelievable..." he touches the bracelet to make sure that this is real.
"You are mine now, Michelle... for the rest of my life." he smirks and caresses her cheek gently.
They sit down at the couch, laying in each others arms. "If Sirius could see us now.. you are my family now. I have nobody left.."
Mattheo feels sad for Michelle. She deserves the best.
"You have me. I am always there for you. And I am not going anywhere." he says as he caresses her hair gently.
"Sirius would be proud of you. He would want you to be happy." he looks at her with a sincere look on his face. she nods. "I know. And I am your family too, "
"I know, Michelle..." he kisses her lightly on her forehead.
"And I love you. I love you so much." he smiles warmly, and he hugs her tightly.
