Friday morning. It's the last school day for the week. Finally.
I stand up and something feels funny. I know this feeling all to well. The nauseous feeling in my stomach is very much present.
Today is going to be a long day. A very long day.
Today is the first day of football training for the season. I always go with Lottie so she can watch her big brother. I really have to push past this anxiety flare this morning. I am fine...
I pick the comfiest tracksuit bottoms and a cute long sleeve top as it is starting to get a little colder but not too cold. I pair it with some trainers.
I drove to school and when I pull up in the car park, I look down at my phone. I have a message from my mum.
'Hi sweetie, are you and Lottie still watching football training? Xxx'
'Yeah, we've watched it every year. Xxx'I toss my phone into my bag and get out of my car. Walking into school, I feel like everyones eyes are on me. I look down and try to walk through the school fast. I get to my locker and I feel like everyone has froze just to stare at me.
I turn round and people are just casually walking up and down the corridor. I get the odd glance as usual. My brain isn't coping, it feels like I'm huge today, I feel like I stand out massively.
I shut my locker and with a shaking hand I reach for my phone. I pull it out and desperately find Noah's contact. I press ring and the ringing sound fills my ears.
I can feel my breaths being snatched from my lungs. I am now breathing like a pig, desperate for oxygen. People are now staring.
I rush through the corridor and to my car. Just before I reach my car, Noah answers.
"Hey beautiful." I hear him say softly. "N-Noah." I barely breathe out. "Where are you?" He says with a change in his tone. "C-car park." I cry out whilst getting into my car.
"Maya, I will be there in two seconds. Focus on my voice." He says whilst I hear him running. "You are the most amazing, beautifulest woman I know. You are so talented, especially when it comes to baking." He says as he runs to me.
My breaths become even sharper and soon enough I see him running towards my car.
He runs over to the passenger side and sits in the car. He chucks his phone onto the back seat and holds my hands. "Look at me, we are going to breathe together." He says trying to control his breathing after running.
I nod and he slightly tightens his grip on my hands. "Come on, in.....and out." He states whilst we inhale and exhale together. "In...... and out." Noah breathes with me.
Wee repeat the exercises for a few minutes until my breathing returns to a normal pace. He lets go of my hands and pulls me into a reassuring hug.
I sob into his neck and he holds me securely. "You're safe, I've got you." He whispers whilst running his fingers through my hair.
It doesn't take long for him to calm me down. I pull away from the hug slightly and look at him. "Thank you." I manage to barely whisper. He rests his forehead on mine.
"I'm always going to get to you, even if I'm on the other side of the world." He reassures me. I look at him with my red puffy eyes and nod.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He puzzles and I pull away from him and play with my fingers. "I just got that feeling in my stomach when I woke up, a-and it just worsened when I got into school." I sniffle up.
