Arya's gaze drifted away, her voice barely above a whisper as she murmured, *"I'm sleepy."*
It was a lie.
She wasn't tired-wasn't even close to being able to rest.
She just couldn't do this right now.
Couldn't face the storm brewing in Shreyansh's eyes, couldn't endure the emotions suffocating her, pulling her deeper into a place she wasn't ready to confront.
But Shreyansh wasn't having it.
*"Arya, please."*
His voice cracked, rough with desperation, thick with unspoken words he was struggling to hold back.
Her silence was *killing* him.
She didn't respond.
Didn't move.
And that-more than anything-shattered him.
Before she could process the shift in his emotions, before she could prepare herself for what came next, Shreyansh suddenly reached for her.
His palm cupped her jaw-firm but gentle, his touch trembling as he brought his face dangerously close to hers.
*"Can't you forgive me? Just once?"* His breath mingled with hers, his voice softer now, pleading, broken.
*"Why do you *hate* me so much, Arya? Why are you doing this?"*
She exhaled shakily, her lips parted, her fingers curling into the bedsheet beneath her as he held her there, refusing to let her slip away.
"I went to save you when I felt something was wrong-my heart sank, I knew something wasn't right." His voice wavered, the pain seeping through every word. "Yes, I regret not picking up your call. I thought... I thought you wanted to talk about the divorce again. And I couldn't handle it, Arya. I hate that word. I hate what it's done to us. But you're stuck on it, and I..." He inhaled sharply, his forehead pressing against hers.
"I regret telling the advocate to prepare the papers in anger-it was a *mistake*. And now... your words are making me lose all sense. I end up doing things I don't want to do because of this pain, because of you."
Arya's breath stilled, her heart pounding violently against her ribs.
*"Why won't you even try to understand me, my pain?"* His voice dropped to a whisper, heavy, exhausted.
She didn't answer.
Didn't move.
Didn't fight.
And Shreyansh couldn't take it anymore.
"I hate you." you are becoming so heartless for me "
The words slipped out-low, husky, drenched in something more than anger.
More than pain.
More than regret.
He didn't give her time to react.
His lips brushed against hers-featherlight, hesitant, restrained-but enough to send a jolt through her veins, enough to unravel her resolve piece by piece.
Arya gasped, her fingers twitching, her mind screaming for her to push him away.
But her body betrayed her.
She stayed.
And in that moment, as his breath lingered against her skin, as his grip tightened ever so slightly-
She knew.
She knew he didn't hate her.
Arya's heart pounded violently, her pulse thrumming in her ears like a frantic drumbeat. She tried to move her hands-to push him away, to fight against the overwhelming pull of the moment-but the IV needle in her hand restricted her movements, leaving her trapped.
