Question One: Every author has their own reasons for doing what they do, so what was yours for writing Dear High School Gang Leader?
Katsu: Um . . . Will anyone get angry with me if I say that it was boredom? I know that's not a real reason but, believe me . . . for me, it was. I suppose it was because I had taken a sudden obsession in those smexy criminals and I enjoyed reading AUs more than normal universe stories. After that . . . That thing was born and you know the rest of the story.
nicevibe: Haha, that's a completely reasonable response, don't worry! And who could resist them?
Question Two: Now usually, an author bases their characters off of someone close to them, or themselves, even. Who did you base Akira Yamada off of? Or was it just coincidental you thought them up the way you did?
Katsu: I based Akira off myself. Or, better yet, a part of myself. I pictured myself being in her situation and imagined my own reactions to them- that's a good way to make a character seem realistic and not too unrealistic/anime-ish. That's why she has a short temper and can do careless things from time to time.
nicevibe: Akira definitely does sound a lot like you!
Question Three: As a fanfiction writer, myself (haha) I know the hardships we have to go through of prepping new stories. Did you plan the plots of your story before publishing it, or did you just make it up as you wrote?
Katsu: I'm guilty about this- I just threw Akira in an all-boys school without a second thought and that was a big mistake. At first, I didn't know what to do but after sitting in front of a piece of paper and structuring the plot, I filled the holes and managed to save that thing. The original Naruto plot helped me equally much as my own ideas since some things are based off it. I had some trouble writing it in some time periods but I managed to pull it off!
nicevibe: Yeah, I noticed you kept some parts parallel to the plot. You did well with that, though; some people just through their characters in, but you thought about it.
Question Four: If a 'Naruto' character could come to the real world, who would you ship yourself with?
Katsu: That would be, without a doubt, Pein, the smexy Akatsuki leader. I ship us so much I can't even-- I suppose because . . . I love everything about him. How he wants to accomplish his goals, how caring he is of his friends . . . Everything about him is what makes me love him. :)
nicevibe: Awe! See, I knew that, not that it wasn't obvious or anything... ;3
Question Five: Do you have a favorite story on Wattpad that coincides with your own likes?
Katsu: Hm . . . As in anime fan fiction, I haven't found something decent up to now; what I mean is that I haven't found a story that will make me go "Wow! I seriously L O V E this" and will make me become religiously dedicated to it. As in original, it has to be The Curse of the Four (Η Κατάρα των Τεσσάρων), written in Greek by a homie. But no, I don't have a favorite story up to now.
nicevibe: I see, I see!
Question Six: What would you recommend to our readers about writing fanfiction, such as personal experiences, or managing time with one's personal life?
Katsu: I would recommend planning the plot before even daring to hit that "New Story" button. Trust me, it will prove useful and time-saving afterwards, mostly because you'll know what you're currently writing and what you will be writing afterwards. You want be lost and you will let the words flow nicely on the paper, without any struggles. Changing some parts of the plot in the middle of writing your story isn't bad as long as it won't affect your whole program.
