"Guess what? The scholarship girl and Hina Kato are actually hanging out together!"
"The 'Hina Kato'? No way, the scholarship girl is like a pauper." The boy replied, his disgust evident in his tone.
"I've got proof." The other boy grinned triumphantly as he pulled out his phone and showed him a picture of Barbara, Joel, Hina, and Joelle all chilling together at a coffee shop. The shock on his face was priceless.
Barbara steps echoed through the bustling hallway, the soft whispers of her peers reached her ears, causing a sarcastic smile to creep onto her lips. "Oh great, looks like I'm suddenly popular now," she thought to herself, her voice laced with a hint of irony. With an assertive roll of her eyes and a gentle sigh, she continued her stride, feeling a twinge of weariness. But just as she was about to be consumed by the overwhelming atmosphere, a comforting arm encircled her, causing her to turn her head in surprise. And there, standing beside her, was Hina Kato, her eyes filled with determination as she exuded a sense of protection, as if she was there to should Barbara from the judgmental gazes and whispers. As the students saw Hina, the hall fell really quite.
"Cat got all your tongues now?" Hina smoothly retorted, her voice dripping with calm confidence as she sported a mischievous smirk. With each step she took down the hall, her presence commanded attention. However, Barbara's keen senses detected a figure trailing behind them. Just as she was about to address Hina, a loud voice cut through the air, shattering the momentary peace.
"Wait up, Hina! And what are you doing with this piece of trash?" Felix's piercing words echoed, grabbing the attention of those nearby. Hina paused, turning to face Felix, their eyes locked in an intense stare-down. The tension in the air was palpable, as the clash of personalities set the stage for a dramatic confrontation.
"What did you just call her?" Hina asked, her voice dripping with cool confidence. The school hallway buzzed with anticipation as the two opponents faced off, their eyes locked in fierce determination. With lightning-fast reflexes, Felix expertly dodged Hina's punches, unaware that they were just a distraction. In a swift and calculated move, Hina delivered a series of powerful kicks to Felix's knee, leaving him stunned. Her movements were fluid and precise, showcasing her mastery of martial arts. Despite his best efforts, Felix found himself outmatched by Hina's agility and technique. With each blow, Hina's confidence grew, propelling her closer to victory. Barbara, standing nearby, marveled at Hina's skill and admired the strength she possessed. The other students, unsurprised by Hina's prowess, watched the duel unfold with little or no emotions and walked away as soon as it was over. She pulled Barbara close walking her to her class, Barbara gulped hard as she could not believe what happened in these few minutes.
Barbara entered her classroom, feeling a mix of tension and anticipation. She took her seat and rested her head on the desk, trying to calm her racing thoughts. Suddenly, her attention was caught by Joel's approach. As he neared her, Barbara lifted her head to meet his gaze, her eyes meeting both Joel and Amelia standing before her.
"Hey," Joel greeted, waving with a friendly smile. Barbara couldn't help but smile in response, feeling a sense of warmth in their newfound connection.
"I guess we're friends now, right?" Joel asked, his eyes filled with eager anticipation. Barbara observed his reaction and let out a soft chuckle, appreciating his enthusiasm.
"Yeah, sure, call it whatever you like," Barbara replied, a playful tone lacing her words. The three of them shared a moment of laughter, their bond growing stronger with each passing day.
"I think this belongs to you, this was the reason I went to your house that day, but I had so much fun that I forgot to give you." Joel said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He extended his hand revealing Barbara's pen. Barbara's eyes widened in surprise, but a smile quickly spread across her face as she reached out to collect the pen. Amelia let out a squeek of happiness as she was about to talk.
