"What?" I asked Evaana, who was already surrounded by Kiaan and our other friends outside the restaurant. Kiaan gloated at me as if he knew something I'd been hiding. I cocked my eyebrow asking him what's up, but the jerk whispered something to Evaana instead shaking his head in refusal to tell me.
"Tell me what it is or I'll leave right now," I threatened turning my heels getting tired of this jest.
"It's about Samayara" she said and my heels turned back unconsciously.
"You like her, dumbo," she claimed. Making me question it myself.
"Since when is being bare minimum kind 'liking' someone?" I retorted, annoyed by their assumptions and the lack of clarity in my thoughts.
"Ever since you started taking so much interest in her ex-love life." She stated sounding a little too confident but then again Evaana is never under confident about anything.
"How do you know?" I asked, feeling somewhat uneasy about her having details about me.
"I've got my sources, dumbo," she exclaimed, flipping her hair as if it were something cool.
"So, are you trying to tame her? She looks very innocent and careful, dumbo, don't mess it up," she warned.
"As if I would!" I shot back, my voice tinged with frustration.
"I'm really just trying to befriend her and protect her from that bastard." The words felt more urgent as I spoke them, fueled by the injustice of it all.
Evaana had just finished briefing us on the whole heartbreaking story of Samayara's breakup, and now each one from Rat Pack was fully invested in the conversation, a mix of concern and anger flashing across their faces.
"I've known Laksh for quite a long time, but I never expected him to act like that. I'm sure it's his fault,Samayara couldn't have done that." Kiaan passed his judgment but got ignored as Pratyusha exclaimed.
"If you want to 'tame' her, try to be with her all the time,"
"For the last time, it's not taming her! It's called befriending," I clarified.
"It's good to see the day when Evyaan Jadeja is having a hard time to befriend someone when it's always the other way around," Samrudh added dryly.
"I would love to be in the same situation," Kiaan exclaimed loudly.
"Not being able to befriend your own love interest? how romantic and thrilling," Aakib shared his disappointment.
"Right?" Kiaan took it as a compliment.
"I like her as a friend, guys. She's fun to be around," I announced and made my way to the restaurant, with them following me from behind, clearly not believing me. These wankers need to stop running their brains so wild.
