"Thinkin' 'bout the love we make and all life sharin'
Come and feel me, oh, feel me
Shinin' in the settin' sun like a pearl up on the ocean
Come and feel me, come on, heal me"

I had been expecting my parents to call ever since we returned from Aadhisha's house, but they didn't, and I was impatient. For once, I thought they might be concerned about me. I always wondered why some people made such a big deal about their parents not providing enough attention. They'd turn to drugs, engage in illegal activities, and much more, not just for attention but perhaps for their parents' concern and love.

I wasn't very proud of this adventure, but somewhere inside me, I was waiting at least a 'thank God you're okay, beta'.

I received a call from Vedika Di and Yashwardhan Bhai from their office.

They occupied the whole screen. There was no sign of my parents, but I thought they might be in the cafeteria and join after them, deluding myself.

"How are you, Evyaan? Did you see the physician? Any injuries? Should I call your homeroom teacher?" Vedika di asked, her voice filled with genuine concern. I noticed the plaster on her arm, which made my worry spike.

"Di, I'm totally fine. But what happened to you?" I asked, my voice tinged with unease as I took a closer look at her injury.

"She tripped on the stairs," Yashwardhan bhai replied, his tone steady but edged with worry. Vedika di hesitated, her eyes downcast, which only heightened my concern.

Just as I was about to ask if her fall was related to her worry about me, her assistant stepped in, "I called her on the stairs, and she swirled, causing her to fall. My apologies, Mr. Jadeja. I should've been more careful."

"Apologies are not enough. Does your job only involve putting your boss at risk? This is absolutely unacceptable. And Di, how could you be so reckless? What if something had happened to you?" I said, my voice quivering with a potent blend of anger and agitation as i failed to control it. Not even for once this new assistant of Di's has ever protected her from anything.

"I'm fine, dumbo, and thank God you're fine too. Take rest and eat your meals on time."

The conversation went on as I recounted everything from yesterday—how Di tracked us down, how Yashwardhan bhai arranged the helicopter, and how Evaana was sick with worry, which she would never show me on my face. Still, there was no sign of my parents or any message from them. I felt a deep pang of disappointment and hurt; after everything, I had hoped for at least a word from them.

"Di, umm, what about Mom and Dad? You might've informed them too. And yes, Samayara's parents as well? She helped us a lot," I added her parents to cover up the mention of our parents.

"Oh, Dad visited yesterday, but we weren't able to call you at that time," Vedika di said with a flat expression. His caring gesture of coming to her office made me feel a little more satisfied.
