"Everyone wants him, that was my crime
The wrong place at the right time
And I break down, then he's pullin' me in
In a world of boys, he's a gentleman"

We got ready for the evening disco night. It was the first day, and we had spent the entire day participating in various activities and enjoying food. I saw Vanie only in the evening as our schedules were quite different. We both got ready, and I helped Vanie wear this beautiful pink saree that brought out the best glow in her.

Quickly putting on my saree, we both admired ourselves. Vanie did some cute makeup that I really liked, and we shared the same shade of lipstick. We took a million pictures – the epitome of girlhood, and I loved it. We left the room smiling and giggling.

Entering the auditorium, we found it beautifully decorated in a desi and sophisticated style. I saw Prajakta and others who looked beautiful in sarees, but as always, they passed a look of bitterness to me. I ignored it until they advanced towards us. They were good friends with Vanie now, and I didn't want to ruin it for her due to my past issues.

Prajakta approached me, "By any chance, are you ignoring me, Samayara? asking innocently, as if the Earpods incident never happened.

"No, I just didn't see you here," I quickly replied.

"I see. And oh, You talk pretty smoothly now," she commented, her tone implying otherwise, before leaving. She always liked seeing me at loss of words and stuttering.

But today, I felt too pretty to care. The saree made me feel ten thousand times more beautiful, and the vibe of the desi disco was fulfilling one of my desi dreams. I was too happy to think about anything else.

Vanie was engrossed in a deep conversation with others, so I informed her and went to grab a drink.

"You look lovely," Pratyusha complimented, taking a drink from the counter.

"So do you! I love this shade of yellow," I reciprocated, smiling ear to ear.

"Hey, pretty ladies!" Evaana showed up wearing the same shade of lilac saree.

"Do I look gorge? Oh my god, are we twinning?" she asked throwing up her pallu.

"Yeah, we are, and you look really, really gorgeous," I exclaimed.

"We should take at least a thousand pictures together," Evaana said fervently, grabbing our hands.

"Totally," Pratyusha replied, matching her energy. We chatted for a bit when Samrudh and Aakib joined us.

"You both wore almost the same suit too? It looks weird," Pratyusha remarked.

"So did they. Why is it weird only for us?" Samrudh asked, pointing at me and Evaana.

"Because yours looks like a couple's outfit," Evaana joked.

"And? Are you jealous?" Aakib said dryly. I chuckled, and Samrudh put his arms around Aakib's shoulder, saying, "See, even she thinks you're jealous." He pointed at me.

And we girls burst out laughing.

"Now, now you two really look like a couple," Pratyusha said between laughs.

"What do you mean we're already not?" Aakib replied, and they both joined us in laughing. Our laughs simmered down a little.

"My eyeliner, is it smudged now?" Evaana asked, half laughing.

"No, it hasn't," I replied, calming down.

"I would've killed you if it would've smudged, my eyes," she said, looking up to prevent her happy tears from ruining the makeup.

"Now that both the couples are here, we should take pictures. Let's click with the boys first," Pratyusha suggested.

"But—" Aakib was about to refuse when she stopped him.

"Go and stand there with your wife," she said, chuckling again.

"ekmera, ek tumhara"

"One for me, one for you," Samrudh looked confused for a bit and hastily retorted,

"but yeh mera hai."

"But he is mine," pulling Aakib back to him, and we all fell apart in laughter again.

"Bro chill, your facial expression," Evaana pointed at Samrudh's face unable to finish her sentence with a chuckle.

"She meant the props, not the guy, Samrudh," Pratyusha clarified.

"I thought you were taking pics with him and making me and Samayara take ours separately," Samrudh explained getting flustered while laughing and leaning on his knees.

Aakib remarked, "You're one hell of a possessive wife," before choking on his own laugh.

"Now you know," Samrudh replied, unable to form a sentence due to his explosive laugh.

"Someone help him," Evaana said, rubbing Aakib's back so he could stop choking. I joined her in helping him patted his back too and asked him to stand straight, which he didn't and continued laughing anyway.

Suddenly, someone's hand touched mine and pulled back startled. Evyaan held him from the straight shoulder and patted his back hard.

"What's so funny that you're willing to die for it?" he asked cocking his eyebrow.

"My wife is possessive," Aakib stated, calming down a bit.

"You got a wife? Damn, who is it? Can't be Pratyusha or Evaana. Samayara?" Kiaan asked, and Evyaan quickly slapped his back.

"No," both Jadeja siblings said in unison.

"Then?" Kiaan asked desperately.

"Me," Samrudh answered, and everyone broke into laughter again.

"I ship," Kiaan laughed barely breathing.

We were attracting a lot of attention, but for the first time in my life, I didn't care. I just wanted to live in this moment. This day is going to be one of those days I'll feel nostalgic about when I'll be older, one of the perfect days of my life.

At least that's what I thought I was going to remember about this day....

Hi everyone! we reached our goal of 500 votes and I'm thankful to each one of you who's been here in my journey! I'm so happy that I can see it on such a beautiful day. It's not my birthday but it's a day I treasure a lot. Once again TYSM for making this day more special for me.
