Mason's POV

I watched in awe of my girl as she fought against Kylee tooth and nail. She's giving her a run for her money for sure, I'm surprised she's still standing without her wolf. Ares has been on edge the whole battle, but seeing her get back up after it looked like she was on the brink of death was a total turn on. Ares purred satisfied with how well our little mate is defending herself against a fully trained wolf. "She's doing great son" my dad said clapping me on the back as I stood with my arms folded over my chest.

"I think there is no question who the rightful Luna of this pack will be" my mom added in sending a sharp glare to Kylee's parents. "I can't believe I ever trusted those back stabbing Almstead's over my own damn son" my mom said and I snorted. "I tried to tell you, but you were so hung up on the fact that you knew her parents in high school" I said as I watched Elizabeth take Kylee down with a clean slice to her ankle and back. "It was an honest mistake and I will never make that same mistake again" she said hugging my father as I continued to watch.

Kylee was on top of Elizabeth delivering blow after blow to her face as ares stirred inside me once again. 'Calm down Ares' I said and he just growled at me before shutting me off from him. Elizabeth managed to kick Kylee off of her before she grabbed her sword and stared her dead in the eyes. What I saw next took my breath away as she spoke with Kylee her eyes began to flicker from her beautiful caramel brown to a bright blood red. I leaned over the railing to get a closer look as her eyes stayed red for a few seconds before she swung her sword for the last time.

Elizabeth sliced evenly and cleanly through Kylee's neck severing her head and watching it roll. The crowd gasped and Kylee's parents screamed out for their daughter, the pack link broke sending a pang of hurt through my chest. I quickly got over it as I hopped the railing and landed on my feet in the red dirt of the arena. Elizabeth's eyes rolled into the back of her head as she fell face first into the dirt. I ran at full speed and slid in the dirt to her as I grabbed her up in my arms, the crowd was silent the only other sounds heard was Kylee's parents.

"Elizabeth" I said as I gently shook her trying to get her to wake up. "Elizabeth open your eyes" I called shaking her harder this time. She wouldn't move or open her eyes as I continued to shake and beg her to wake up again. "Elizabeth, baby, please wake up" I chanted as people started to approach me from afar. Ares growled at them as he shoved me back into my mind, everyone who was approaching backed up with fear in their eyes. "Ares honey, I need you to take her to the hospital so we can bring her back" my mom tried, but Ares snapped at her.

"I will bring her back" he growled at her and she put her hands on her hips. "Ares, if you don't let the doctors help she will die" my mother baited him and like the fool he is he took it. I shoved him back as I regained control before climbing to my feet. Elizabeth was secure in my arms as I ran down the hallway and out of the arena. I ran faster than I ever have and landed right in the hospital "Where should I take her" I asked the nurse as she scrambled for a gurney. I laid Elizabeth down and followed the doctor, but I was shoved back as they continued to take her away from me. "Alpha, we need you to stay here so we can save her life" the nurse said and my heart sank as Ares tried to fight his way to the front of my mind again. "I understand doctor, I'll go take a walk" I said clearing my throat as I tried to control Ares.

Her face was pale as I assumed my eyes weren't helping the situation one bit. I turned on my heel and walked out of the hospital and out into the woods. I stripped down naked and shifted quickly taking off into the woods to burn off some much needed steam. 'She's gonna be okay Ares' I said in my head as he ran for what felt like miles on end. 'I understand Mason, but I can't handle this right now just let me run' he responded as he continued to god knows where. 'Alright man' I responded before we came to a stop at Ares' favorite lake.
