It was just me in the tent again last night, I miss my Daddy, and Uncle Merle. I hope they're on their way back now. They probably just had to wait out the night because it was too dark to go back.

When I exit the tent, Jim is digging holes a short ways away from camp. Amy and Andrea are catching fish for supper tonight. They've been down in an old canoe for hours now.

Lori has Carl and I doin math. Well Carl's doing math, I'm drawing in the margins of the paper. I'm bad at math, and I've never been good at it. I don't see any use in doing math anymore.

"Aurora honey, just try okay?" Lori tells me. I grumble something that doesn't sound like any word in the dictionary, but I listen. Daddy says that when he's gone and Merle's not around I need to listen to Lori, and I don't even thinks he likes her, but I think he knows that Carl and I are friends. I don't have many of those. After even more hours, Amy and Andrea come back with a whole feast of fish for supper.

The sun is starting to dip below the tree line. That's a message for, make sure you're safe at camp. I hope that means Daddy's coming back soon. I don't want to sleep alone in the tent again. I miss him real badly.

"Mom, look! Look at all the fish!" Carl says and my stomach grumbles at the thought of dinner tonight. He starts poking at the fish, like he can't believe what he's looking at. "Woah."

Lori tells us to go back to our math, making sure we finish the page in our work books before it gets dark. Jim's still diggin' holes, so most of the adults go to talk to him, I stick back though, cause he's not hurting no one.

When the adults come back though, Jim's in cuffs. I'm still trying to do math but they put him at a tree right in front of where we're sitting. Now it's really hard to focus. Instead of worrying about the equator, wait no, equation, in front of me I'm staring at Jim.

"Sorry if I scared y'all." Jim calls out to Lori.

"You had sunstroke, nobodies blaming ya." Lori says in that motherly tone of hers.

"You're not scared now, are you?" Jim asks us and we shake our heads no, before we get back to our math. Jim goes on rambling but I try to tune him out. I'm finding it real hard to focus, luckily Shane asks us to help him clean the fish for dinner so Lori lets us go.

We get those fish cleaned up real fast and start making our feast for the night. We haven't ate this good in a long while and I eat so much my belly starts to ache. My crossbow is sitting behind me, and my knife is tucked into my belt again. I feel like a real big kid now, Carl's on my left, we're sitting and talking as a big group. It feels like a win.

"I gotta ask you man," Morales says to Dale. "What's with the watch."

Everyone nods in agreement, I'm not sure what he's talking about but I nod too. Dale's just as confused as I am, but he's not nodding like the rest of us.

"I'm missing the point here" Dale says with a chuckle.

"Unless I'm missing the signs here," Jaqcui says "the world seems to have come to an end."

Dale proceeds to tell us a story that relates to his watch. It's about a father and son and he gets all philosophical on us about time. I'm not too sure what he's talking about but I like listening to him talk. His voice is real relaxing, I think it's because he's so smart and knows what he's talking about.

"You are so weird." Amy says and we all laugh at her, even Dale. She stands up after a minute or so of awkward chuckling.

"Where you going?" Andrea asks her.

"I have to pee." She says, mumbling. "Jeez, you try to be discreet around here."

We're all laughing again and it feels like we're back in the real world. Almost like the real world never stopped and the dead were never walking, we're just all strangers at Summer camp tonight. Until it doesn't even feel like that because Amy comes out of the RV less than a minute later asking about toilet paper and screams a second later. A walkers biting her in the arm and the whole camp starts screaming.
