The Jackal Guardian's Ascent

Chapter 18

It was early in the morning after everyone in Skypiea partied and celebrated Eneru's defeat when Luffy snuck over to Nami and a few others to wake them up to search for gold.

"Hey, Nami! Wake everybody up!" Luffy whispered as he quietly tapped her forehead.

"Huh? What?" she asked, still groggy from her sleep.

"We're gonna steal the gold and run." Luffy whispered to her.

"Huh?! There's gold?!" Nami asked, suddenly awake at the prospect of acquiring riches.

"You idiot! You're talking too loud!" Luffy loudly said.

"Not half as loud as you!" Nami said back, almost as loud, as she slapped him.

"Shut up! I can't sleep!" Usopp yelled, angry that he had been woken up, while he accidentally punched Chopper.

"What are you guys yelling about?" Anu asked, somewhat upset that he had been woken up from his peaceful sleep.

"Something about gold." Sanji replied as he too woke up.

"Luffy plans to steal the gold and make a break for it." Robin quietly told Anu.

"Then why yell and wake up half the island?" Anu asked he thumbed over to the large group of people who were now awake and looking at them.

"Group meeting in the forest!" Luffy announced as he ran for the forest.

"Whatever." Sanji commented. "Somebody needs to wake up Marimo so he doesn't miss the meeting."

"Not it!" Nami, Chopper, and Usopp replied in unison.

"Guess it's gonna be either me or you then Sanji." Anu commented. 

"I don't feel like yelling at him this early in the morning." Sanji replied.

"Fine then." Anu replied as he got up and walked over to Zoro to attempt to wake him up. "Wake up, Zoro." he said as he shook the swordsman over and over again, all to no result. "Should I slap him?" Anu asked as he looked over at Robin.

"That shouldn't be necessary." she answered.

"I guess so." Anu replied before he hoisted Zoro over his shoulder. "Off to the meeting we go."

The meeting began when Anu, Robin, and Zoro showed up to the clearing in the forest.

"He's still asleep?" Nami asked, seeing Zoro fast asleep even though he was slung over Anu's shoulder.

"Yeah." he answered. "Guess he can sleep through the meeting."

"Fair enough." Sanji replied.

"So, what's the game plan?" Usopp asked after everyone had finally gathered for the meeting.

"We're gonna grab all the gold we can and make a break for it." Luffy replied.

"I wanna trade some stuff for some dials." Usopp commented. "I can use them to make some awesome upgrades to our stuff."

"That sounds like a great idea!" Luffy replied. "I guess that leaves Nami, Chopper, Sanji, Anu, Robin, Zoro, and myself to look for the gold."

"I'm going to look for the poneglyphs that are supposed to be written on the base of the golden bell." Robin informed him. "I believe I'm going to sit out this treasure hunt."

"I'm gonna train with Zoro." Anu added. "Once he wakes up."

"Guess that leaves just me, Nami, Chopper, and Sanji to look for the gold." Luffy commented. "So that's what we're doing."
