The Jackal Guardian's Ascent

Chapter 20

"RUUUNN! SEA MONKEYS!!" Luffy yelled. "DID THEY FOLLOW US?!"

"Not good!! There's no wind!!" Usopp added. 

"Haul in the sail, quick!!" Nami commanded. "We've gotta row for it! Roooooow!!"

All the guys, except for Usopp who was in the crow's nest, took up the oars and rowed with all their might to escape the latest monster wave that had been caused by sea monkeys.

"Emergency report!! Emergency report!!" Usopp yelled from his perch. "Ship sighted at twelve o'clock!!"

"What is it? An enemy?!" Luffy asked, still rowing.

"At a time like this?!" Chopper asked.

"They got some guts to attack someone with a giant wave bearing down on them." Anu commented, helping Chopper row.

"No, it's...it's got no flag, no sail!" Usopp replied. "I don't know what kind of boat it is!"

"What's with that?! They aren't flying any colors?!" Luffy asked, perplexed by what Usopp had just told everyone. "What are they on the ocean for, then?!"

"Don't ask me!!" Usopp answered. "Wait...I see her crew!! There's so few people! And they're all bummed out with a vengeance!! I can barely detect any life from them at all!!"

"What's this about?! Is their ship okay?!" Luffy asked.

"It's gonna get swallowed up by the waves if it keeps on like that!" Usopp commented.

"Hey, guys!!" Luffy yelled out to the crew on the other ship. "There's a big wave and giant monkeys coming at you!! TURN YOUR HELM, HARD!!!"

"Oh...it's a ship." one of the other crew members said to one of his crewmates. "Hey, it's a pirate ship!!!"

The other crew soon fell into total disarray as they argued and fought amongst themselves over what they should do next.

"That ship is completely disorganized." Luffy said aloud.

"Well, they're talking about taking our treasure." Sanji reminded him. "So, they're enemies. Leave them."

"He's right, Luffy." Anu commented. "We need to worry about ourselves now."

The crew on the other ship continued to argue amongst themselves right up to when the giant wave crashed over their ship, sinking it in an instant. 

"Whew. It's calmed down, huh?" Luffy wondered aloud after a while of them continuing to row in the calm winds. 

"So that big wave was just a sea monkey prank?" Usopp asked.

"Humidity and temperature have stabilized considerably." Nami pointed out. "So we may already have entered the next island's climatic zone."

"Hey, Robin, can  you see anything?" Anu asked.

"Just this island that's been in front of us for a while now." she answered as she pointed to the bow of the ship.

"Well, say that, would you?!" Luffy and Usopp asked, disappointed with Robin's calmness.

"You're not doing it right!" Usopp told her. "Listen up! When you see an island, this is what you say..."

"MEN!! LAAAAND HOOOO!!!" Luffy added. "YAHOO!!!"

"Now you try it." Usopp continued.

"The fog is pretty thick." she said, ignoring their attempt at teaching her how to be a pirate.

"Fog, huh? That's not safe." Nami wondered aloud. "Chopper, keep an eye on our path to make sure we don't run aground."

"Yes ma'am!!" Chopper replied, happy to be helping.
