After what felt like an eternity of running, the four remaining Rangers finally made it back to their base. The doors magnetically pull apart and slide open for them and they waste no time rushing inside, shutting it behind them and locking it tight with a loud thud. Trini and Zack were practically carrying Billy between them, while Kimberly silently followed close behind. All their face shields were uncovered.
The Rangers eventually collapse onto the ground, panting, exhausted, gasping for breath from their mad dash.
As they rested there in the quiet of the Command Center, Trini and Zack lowered Billy to the ground and Kimberly finally spoke up.
"Is everyone okay?" she asked softly, her voice low but her tone firm.
Trini was the first to respond, sitting up and rubbing her face with her hands. "I think so," she said, looking over at the others with a concerned expression. "Billy, are you alright?"
Billy slowly propped himself onto one elbow, his face white as a sheet and he could barely keep his eyes open. "Yeah... yeah, I'm okay," he mumbled before lying back down again.
Even then, he had to express his disbelief over what just happened.
"Did that just happen....tell me that didn't just happen?", he asked with a tiny quiver in his voice.
Trini groans. "It did happen, Bill. We can't deny that. What's done is done."
Everyone but Kimberly demorphed out of their armor.
Grabbing his bag from the far-right corner of the entrance, Zack moved into action, rummaging through his bag to take out medical supplies. He looked over Billy's armor and saw black bruises blooming like ink stains on his arms and chest. Blood trickled down the right side of his leg from a deep gash, and Zack quickly began treating the wounds with antiseptics. He then wrapped gauze around each wound for protection while Trini steadied Billy's body as Zack worked.
It wouldn't be foolproof. But he had to try something.
Billy grinned weakly at him. "Dang. Who knew we had a doctor in the house? Thanks."
Zack smiled back and nodded before turning to Trini, whose gaze was still fixed on Kimberly sitting motionless on the stairs, lost in her thoughts.
The two boys exchange handshakes long enough for Trin to look back at them with a brief smirk, seeing one of her allies being looked after the incident earlier. On the off-chance Jason was gone......no, she didn't believe it. She refused to believe he'd go down that easily, not with how hopefully stubborn the man was.
As long as she didn't have to lose another one of them, she'd feel as euphoric as she did when they first bonded together. Of course, the beating they had received no less than an hour ago knocked a silver of that optimistic taste out of her mouth.
That was uncommon....and she didn't like it.
But not as much as she couldn't stand the sight of seeing Kimberly simply sitting on her ass not doing anything. Fifteen minutes had passed since the four returned to the ship and nothing came from her. No words, no grunts, not a single peep. It was like she wasn't even there.
"Kimmy?"
Zip. Zero. Nothing. Nada. Diddly freaking squat.
"I let this happen."
Trini immediately shakes her head 'No', quick to sit down beside her. Assuring her nothing was wrong would be foolhardy for her to do however, given how royally screwed they all were at this moment: no mentor, no assistant, and as of right now, no leader. Kim might be the catalyst for letting the situation get this far.....
