Scavenging

Last night was a festive affair, one that allowed each of the individual Rangers to be untethered to rudimentary bindings of ordinary life and the self-destructive one of a vigilante. Sunday would've been a similar ordeal....

....had it not been for Alpha calling them at 8 AM, informing them all that they had to go to the ship. Zordon needed to talk to them about something important.

As duty calls, all five of them begrudgingly rolled on up out of bed, strapped on the nearest clothes they can muster and all packed into Kimberly's van this time....only with Jason behind the wheel, Billy riding shotgun and everyone else in the back. The last thing any of them wanted to do was have to do manual labor on a SUNDAY.

Trini shared her displeasure with the circumstances in her next remark, the first time anyone's spoken since driving off. "The only weekend day we have to sleep in and Zordon had to call us in."

"Did you expect anything less, Trin?", was the extent of what Kim had to direct towards her to get her to pipe down just a little bit.  "We're living the double life now. It's bound to happen."

Zack was more or less concerned on the what they were being called in for. No telling how big of a deal something can be when they get called in but considering all of the days....

....something had to be worth it here.

"What'd Zordon say actually about something important? Alpha wasn't really being specific", Zack asked.

Billy unfortunately couldn't satisfy his needs for an answer. "Well, that's a first. I couldn't make heads or tails with it."

"Let's just get this over with. This is really a bad time."

Billy couldn't help but to notice Jason barely gritting his teeth at the last line. He wasn't a fan on what this entailed if he thought it had anything to do with last night.

So he asks, "You seem intense, Jason? Something going on?"

Jason can only help himself to nod.

Still a little beefed at Kim's answer the previous night, his parasitic jealousy towards the new kid in the group was now steadily getting under his skin and it became so fucking maddening. He could hardly get any sleep last night because of it.....and he could barely made any eye contact with her throughout the whole ride to the ship.

Doesn't matter that he caught onto how petty this behavior was and where this was heading; Goddamn it, his heart always seemed to speak louder than his head.

An hour later, the town, the mountains, the gold mines and the Pit were behind the five. With the hatch door opening, it was Alpha who awaited them at the bridge of the ship with Zordon's avatar nowhere to be seen; at least not now.

It left them with C-3PO 2.0 before moving on up to the big boss man.

"Rangers, you made it. Good timing."

Billy, as optimistic as ever, matched his concerns. "What's going on. Alpha? You sounded weird on the communicators."

"Is it the Hogan's or Rita?", Kimberly followed him up on.

"I wish it were that simple. But I'm afraid this is something bigger."

"What could be bigger than two mutating hybrids?"

Blinking his eyes at the response, Alpha quickly snaps his head over at all five of them. He had hoped that remark was another joke on Trin's behalf, if what he was about to tell them meant less than their inflated mini-egos.
