Formal Invitation

One proposal shot down, another was still waiting in the wings.

The offer to ask Tommy out for a night for some fire-watching, soul searching R&R was far from a terrible move the more Jason pondered it; did his interaction with him in the car prove that the guy, in the worst position in his life on a psychological level, was forced into a situation he felt he had no say in while having an unsafe working reputation?

He needed help. THAT, he knew for certain.

But as he, Zack and Billy were walking downstairs, spewing on and on about the note and inviting him from the bonfire, the hormonal teenager cracked though Jason's skin again, reverting his attention back to Kimberly. For a tiny minuscule inch, he felt a little threatened by the presence of this kid, a kid who was able to cripple two complete babbling fools without breaking a sweat....and he didn't even have to hold back.

"Got nothing against it but why invite this Tommy guy?"

This was Jason speaking more defensively than offensively, unwilling to take any chances with the guy if he felt too threatened or even insecure if his jealousy got the better of him. And from a outsider perspective, Zack happened to take notice.

"Just the way we heard of him from Billy? He sounds he could use it."

Billy only defended that affirmation with a simple nod and gesture. "Plus, he put up a hell of a fight the way he stood up to Bulk and Skull. And the way he stood up to them for Kimberly; that was tight."

Jason rolled his eyes, barely maintaining the urge to speak highly on the matter for much longer; only usurping a uninspired "Great."

"So where is he stationed at?"

The question, directed to Jason, knocked him up and out his own conflicted bubble. "What?"

"I mean.....his locker."

"I think it's around.........."

Billy is immediately startled by the aftermath that eventually came before them and he immediately looked stupid for taking that locker explosion to be his doing earlier. With Tommy grabbing the rest of his stuff from the lockers remains and just storing it in his backpack given there was hardly room now.....

....his day wasn't getting any better.

"......here."

"Guessing this guy has more problems than us," Zack further commented.

Tommy zipped up his backpack and grabbed his ice pack holding it to his eye and forehead, barely obstructing his vision but outlawing his ongoing headache and black eye with a brigade of cool.

His peripheral vision from the other eye caught the three approaching him, immediately bringing him to attention to familiar faces. Down goes his guard, if ever so momentarily with his hand still clinching the ice pack in use for a potential weapon. So far however....

....he saw no need for worry.

"So.....," Tommy starts off, eying from his right over to his left, taking the three men's appearances in sight. "Billy....Jason and....."

"Zhā kè tàilēi (Zack Taylor)."

"Hěn róngxìng rènshí nǐ. (Pleasure you meet you)".

Surprising him with his stretching of cultural boundaries, it eases Zack up rather quickly. Tommy found it easier to hide his smile than him, something the former took notice of as soon as he spoke.
