Away from the city and away from Angel Grove High is where Jason's house laid bare, the latter spending the next few precious hours he has before the scheduled meet-up doing push-ups in his room where his red power coin laid over on his dresser.
Amidst his counting, his red coin suddenly started to make a very low humming yet vibrational noise. It didn't make that much noise or create that much of a mess though, cause Jason, as fast as a lightning bolt, caught the coin; preventing it from going any further.
At that point, he just sat himself on his bed, prepared to lay himself down for a few notices rest but only about eight seconds. The sound of his phone buzzing sound more like a joy buzzer more than an actual phone ringing.....but considering who it was, it made sense why he wouldn't ignore it.
He gets himself up from the bed, and answered the message on his phone, silencing the beeping.
It was from Billy.
We're ready.
See you there.
He mustered the strength to look outside of his window since some beams of sunlight were still peeking through and greeting everyone who stepped outside. Sure enough, he sees Tommy on the sidewalk, rather close to the road, waving over at him.
Jason puts his phone down and smiles to see it was him again.....but only just.
Half an hour having past them by, that very evening rolled around and the boys were all the first to arrive at the gold mines. Situated far across the ravine where the aforementioned Pit and entranceway to the ship was hidden in plain sight, not dragging the actual soot and dirt from the fire close to the edge was a smart call from Zack.
Tommy carried out a couple of logs from the back of Jason's trunk, for he kept a few stashed in the garage in case it ever called for such an occasion. Since starting a bonfire required more than just a lot of heat and endless docking around, the kid went by to help Zack set up the fire as Jason and Billy were bringing out cases full of soda and snacks.
Could very well be an all-nighter.
Perfect time for Tommy and Zack to get acquainted. The first thing that literally pops to Tommy's head, seeing how less frisky and restricted and more laidback he was
"So you live out here?"
Zack looks back at him cautiously.....before nodding yes.
"With my mother. She's been very ill for some time so I spend my time hiking around out here, chasing after the train.....basically anything to not have to look at her and see how little time is left. But that's how I met the guys when they came out."
"And do they spend all their days here?"
"More or less", he shrugs.
No so much despondent Zack was towards Tommy but neither was he, slowly unsheathing and unwrapping that shell the latter was forced to cocoon himself around. And in that regard.....totally understandable.
At least until his eyes peered back to the cliff, restoring a familiar memory.
"Say..... you wouldn't happen to be that You-Tuber that caught some people leaping off the cliff not far from here, would you?"
Flinching at the mention of the cliff, Zack immediately shuts down. Jason and Billy weren't nearby so the blow would've been lessened if it was only him.....but the crippling suspicion was hard to erase.
