It was the ticking on the counter that made it apparent that CADENCE DANIELS should be standing still right now. She had seen similar circumstances with her brother and his wife or her parents.

Where they would just sort of stop wherever they were in the middle of what they were doing and watch the numbers on the counter tick down quicker and quicker in succession.

She was eight years old when she first questioned her father about it, him just standing in the middle of the sidewalk holding his daughter's hand while looking at his arm.

He ahd simply smiled at her and informed the young girl that it was the easiest ways to find one another as soulmates. How you could tell the differences in simply walking your way and actively trying to find the other. Pierre told her that it was simply easier for one half of the soulmate couple to stand still while the other tracks them down using the numbers on the arm as a sort of warmer or cooler method.

That's how as Cadence saw the quickly ticking descent of numbers on her arm, she stepped to the side of the small mostly metal hallway of the helicarrier and waited for Steve to come find her.

"Steve?" Cadence greeted confused as she saw him stalking down the hallway corner towards her. He was indeed checking his arm, making sure he was going in the right direction to find her.

Instead of his casual attire that he had worn when he arrived on the jet, he was now suited up in the brand new Captain America suit that S.H.I.E.L.D. had made for him when coming out of the ice.

There was a fury and anger in his eyes and his shoulders were incredibly tense while he walked, making the muscles sway and bulge on his arms. Which were defined under the suit material.

Without saying a word, Steve gently grabbed her arm and looked both ways up and down the hallway before leading her to a small room that is seemingly used for storage judging by the racks and boxes around them. He closed the door behind them.

"Did you know?"

He asked without looking at Cadence. His voice is low and gruff, unlike what Cadence has heard him address directly to her. This tone of voice was usually reserved for S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and Nick Fury.

"What?" Cadence responded, confused entirely. She certainly didn't like the tone Steve was taking with her.

"Phase Two. The Tesseract. The weapons." Steve said, one after another in succession. He turned around to face Cadence now, looking her deep in the eyes with his searching for any sigh of her knowing what he was talking about.

When finding none, Steve let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. A breath of relief.

"Fury left it out of the briefing. He plans to use the Tesseract and make weapons from it." Steve explains to Cadence, keeping the volume of his voice low so no one could hear it walking past the storage room they're inhabiting.
