"EXCUSE ME?" Cadence asked, no, demanded. Agent Coulson was damn glad that Cadence was holding Geronimo and loved the cat dearly because she nearly about dropped him when Agent Coulson explained the mission he had in mind for her.
Cadence paced back and forth while soothing rubbing Geronimo down his back as he purred, "Okay, let me get this straight. You want me to take six months off of my case and follow you and the rest of your team to go and try to follow a lead that you got from an old drunk man about where Captain America, from the Howling Commandos, is even after it was confirmed he died in a plane crash with the Red Skull?" Cadence recounted.
Coulson nodded, "We actually have had a few more tips from a few more sources, more reliable sources,"
"And what did Agent Carter have to say about this?" Cadence asked while stroking Geronimo who was currently calming Cadence. She couldn't exactly just leave her life.
Coulson sighed, "Former Agent Carter was not told. She has-"
"Dementia," Cadence interrupted, "I know already. You wouldn't believe the gossip that circulates near the coffee pot in the morning. But doesn't Agent Carter have the right to know?"
Coulson stood up from Cadence's living room chair and looked around. It was a basic studio apartment in D.C where most of the furniture looked and somehow smelled like IKEA. Weird. There were some nice personal touches and Coulson tried not to let his eyes stray over to the back wall where her queen sized bed was. Then the only other four wall room he saw was what he assumed to be the bathroom, not that Coulson would go in and check it out.
He would probably have an HR problem on his hands if he did.
"If we told her she would have to relive that moment until we found him, and Director Fury and I agreed that it would be better that we slowly sink all of this into everyone once we find Captain Rogers," Coulson said while shrugging.
"And what about my current case?" Cadence pointed out.
Coulson raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms and Cadence shrunk back into herself a little bit, that looked reminded her way too much of her father, hell even Geronimo jumped out of her arms. "The one where you are doing absolutely nothing for?" He asked indignantly.
Cadence gave a forced shocked look on her face and a flame burned in her eyes, "I am currently serving research that could make or break my case, Agent Coulson," She crossed her arms over each other and glared at Coulson.
"If you're going to be working on my team, one, you can call me Phil, two, we use the talents you're good at and don't cast you aside." Coulson pointed out. The flame died down in Cadence's eyes, but the glare didn't waver.
