IT WAS A CALL that ruined Cadence's day. Well, "ruin" wasn't exactly the right word for the situation, but Cadence had definitely been dreading this one call because this one call would without a doubt revert her back to her days when she and her brother would get in trouble and get scolded.

"Hey Mom, Dad," Cadence greeted nervously while on the phone in her designated hotel room.

The thing about Coulson showing up in the middle of the night and asking you to join his team, you leave straight away and while Cadence took into account leaving Geronimo with her brother and sister-in-law, she completely forgot to tell her parents that she might disappear for several months.

And let's just say that didn't sit well with Lilliana and Pierre Daniels. Lilliana and Pierre, Gabriel and Cadence's parents, met when Pierre was an exchange student from France at Cornell and Lilliana was one of the students that volunteered to give the students a campus tour. They were both in their junior year and Pierre decided to permanently move to the U.S. and get a VISA while they moved in with each other. Unlike most soulmates, Pierre didn't propose so quickly as Lilliana entered dental school and wanted to wait until she graduated to get married and have kids.

The whole family had taken quite a few trips to France, visiting Pierre's sister and parents who owned a small French bakery. Now Pierre worked as a French Professor, as he spoke English and French fluently, and Lilliana worked as an Orthodontist, both living in Frederick, Maryland.

"Cadence Louise Daniels! Où es-tu? Nous étions inquiets. Gabriel a dit que tu étais parti en mission? Pourquoi tu ne l'as pas dit à ta mère, tu sais comment elle s'inquiète!" Her father ranted through the phone. And yes, Pierre Daniels made sure to teach both his children French and English from a very young age.

"Where are you? We were worried. Gabriel said you were on a mission? Why didn't you tell your mom, you know how much she cares!"

Cadence paced back and forth across the carpeted flooring of her hotel room, "Papa, I'm fine. I'm in New York right now at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you. It was very sudden and I know that's no excuse, but I arrived today and I was going to call you even if you didn't call me."

Then she heard her mother, "Pierre, if anyone was worrying, we all know it was you." Lilliana said in a teasing tone.

It was true, out of both parents, Lilliana was more laid back. Always had been and Pierre constantly worried about the kids. You could say Pierre was the mother hen and as soon as Gabriel and Cadence moved away, he got even more protective and constantly worried about their well-being.

Cadence heard a huff come from her father before she continued to update her parents, "I'll be on the road for a few months and be moving around a lot so I probably won't be in touch a lot. Will you be okay with that Papa?"
