Jacob's pov

He had kissed her wanting everyone to see.
Deanna pulled him to one side.
"Watch" She pointed to Alexis.
Her back was towards him. 'F**k she is stripping'.
He was ready to remove his jacket and cover her but what he saw stopped him in his tracks. Beautiful shoulders, like tanned silk, then her back covered in a black and grey tattoo of a butterfly. The tips of its wings disappeared below the edge of the low cut back of her dress. 'What the f**k is holding that dress up?' his mind thought.

She turned to face him. He dragged his eyes from her long slender legs, up past the sheerness of her dress to her face. She removed her glasses and dropped them to the floor. 'Those eyes.' He felt his eyes widen in recognition as she pulled off a wig and unpinned her hair letting it fall. 'Lexi!!'
"Everyone, let me introduce Alexis Mayer, former freak now fabulous.“ Deana gushed.
Everyone muttered loudly. He went to move towards her through the crowd, but she had gone.
"Alexis…ALEXIS." He shouted, scanning the room for her.
"Deana, where would she go?" He turned to her. "Deana please, I need to find her." He begged.
The girl shook her head.

"Erm she's staying with me but can't get in, I've got the only key. You could try her old house, she may have gone back to see it or the bench overlooking the lake. She would always go there to cry."
He ran from the school hall going first to her old house then heading to the lake. There she was. Arms wrapped around herself. Taking his jacket off he dropped it around her shoulders.
"Beautiful dress but not for this weather." He crouched in front of her.
"Did you know?" She asked him.
"That you were my crush from high school?" He shook his head. "No."
"Crush?" She wiped her tears with the back of her hand.
He smiled.
"How about you did you know I was…"
"The guy who stood up for me and who kissed me on my final day here?.. No."

He sat beside her.
"Why did you kiss me?" She asked him.
"Because I wanted to." leaning forward his elbows on his knees he looked at her. "I saw you for who you are, Alexis. Someone who loved from the heart, who cared for everyone and everything. I was hoping, that summer you left, to spend time with you, become good friends."
He stood and held his hands out.
"Come on, let's go back. Give them something to talk about."
They walked hand in hand back to the school. He placed his arm around her shoulders as they entered the hall. She gave him his jacket back and he slipped it on.
"Jacob, just how are we going to give them something to talk about?"
He spun her round onto the dance floor and pulled her into his arms.
"Like this."
He slid his hand around her neck, and lowered his lips onto hers. Her arms wrapped around his back holding him as she responded to his kiss.
To the side Deana smiled, grabbed her phone and took pictures.

Alexis pov

Noise erupted around her. She had to get out. There was one place she knew that made her feel safe.
It hadn't changed, the bench was still there but now it was graffitied, the willow tree hung around it.
Sitting she remembered the times she would sit here and cry. A breeze picked up and the lack of fabric in her dress made her shiver. Her arms wrapped around her. Suddenly something landed on her shoulders and Jacob crouched in front of her.
"Beautiful dress but not for this weather." He said.
"Did you know?" She asked him.
"That you were my crush from high school?" He shook his head. "No."

She still smells of strawberries.

He walked her to Deana's and dropped a kiss on her cheek as he walked away.
Stopping suddenly he asked.
"When are you back in Berlin?"
"Another week. I'm going to Ireland for a week to see my family." She told him.
"Ok. I'll see you then. Take care." He walked away.
"Well?" Deana pushed as she closed the door behind her.
"I don't know. I really like him but…"
She dropped on the sofa.
"But?" Deana pressed.
"He's got a lot on. The boys are trying to get things up and running. They go away a lot. We will have to see."
"Take every day as it comes. If it's meant to be it's meant to be."
Deana hugged her friend. "What time is your flight?"
"12.40. I better get to bed. Night."
Lying in bed she could feel his arms around her, fingers in her hair, his lips on hers. A smile broke out on her face as his words rang in her head. 'my crush'.
