Time Apart

Jacobs pov

Climbing out of the taxi at Kabu offices, he dragged his bag upstairs.
"Bro." Bene waved, "Glad your back."
He wasn't glad. He wanted to stay with Alexis but she insisted he returned as planned.
"When will you be back?" He asked her.
"Soon. I just need a bit longer."
She snuggled against him as they waited for his flight to be called.
He made her go as the flight was called but when he looked back she was trying to hide behind a pillar to watch him. Even from this distance he could see she was crying.

"So what do you think?" Bene smiled.
Jacob coughed and said "Sorry I was miles away."
"Everything OK?" Bene sat beside him.
A small grin formed on his face.
"I'm engaged. I'm going to be moving in with Alexis."
"WHAAAAAAAT!!!!" His friend jumped up shouting.
Others came into the room when Bene shrieked.
"What's happened?" Luis lent on a chair.
Jacob tilted his head back looking at the ceiling.
"I'm moving out of the mansion and in with Lexi." He told everyone.

"She'll be back soon and I'll be moving in then.. . We've gotten engaged." He looked at his friends who all went quiet and looked at each other before all whooping and hugging him.
"She could move in with you." Julien stated.
"She could, but we would have more privacy at her place. It was great at her grandma's. We stayed in a little cottage all alone. It was brilliant. You know she can sing. She sang to me at karaoke."
They had their meetings and went back to the mansion where they did some tik toks before going to bed.
He spoke to her as he lay in his bed, stroking himself as he remembered their last night together.
'Please don't stay away too long' he thought to himself.

Alexis pov

As soon as he left she felt empty. She sat in the jeep looking at the ring on her finger.
It was when walking back from the pool that he asked her.
"Alexis, would you wear this for me?"
She turned to find him on one knee holding out a ring.
"What?" She looked at the ring. "Is that..?"
"Your grandma gave it to me. Your grandpappy gave it to her."
Her heart began to beat a little faster. "So will you?"
She held her hand out as he slipped it onto her finger.
"So are we?"
"Engaged?.. I suppose so."
Shaking her head she started the jeep up and headed back to her grandma's.

Stripping off the bedding she put it to wash before she cleaned the cottage.
"And what are you doing?" Her grandma's voice sounded from the open doorway.
"Erm cleaning." She turned the hoover off.
"Why didn't you leave with him? Everything that means something to you is in Germany."
They sat on the sofa.
"Not everything grandma. You are here and I have two special friends in Switzerland." She croaked, rubbing her throat. "Dust." She coughed
"More like a cold. Skinny dipping indeed. Anyway can I or them keep you warm at night? No. Can Jacob? I'd be surprised if he couldn't."
Alexis giggled.
"Grandma!! My love life is private." Her cheeks became hot.
"Have you booked your flight? If not, why not. Get your bags packed and go follow him. Kids these days." The elderly lady tutted as she left her granddaughter sitting there laughing to herself.

It was three days later she was due to fly home but she woke feeling unwell. She rang her grandma.
"Are you ready to leave darling?" Her grandma asked.
"No. I'm not well. I'm burning up and my throat is sore. I'm aching all over and my head hurts."
There was silence. Then a heavy sigh.
"Back to bed with ya and I'll phone the Dr and cancel your flight."
The Dr coming was a blur, and then all she could remember was masked people moving her and darkness.
