Jacob

It was 5am and he was showered and packed. Alexis as usual wasn't in bed.
Leaving his case in the hallway he popped his head into the living room. A smile crossed his face as he watched her, sitting with her feet up on the sofa, stroking her stomach and singing softly. The soft glow of the table lamp gave her a halo.
"Hey." He moved over to her and kissed her forehead. "I've got to go."
She tilted her face to him.
"How long for?"
"Just two nights. So I'll be home Wednesday." His lips brushed hers. He placed his hand on her stomach. "You in there behave for mommy."
"It hasn't moved much. Probably sleeping to gain strength."
"So should you." He told her. "Are you going to behave for daddy? Or will I have to add some more to my list of punishments to give you after it's arrival?" She smiled at him. He loved her smile. "Better go. Love you." He kissed her.
"Love you more." She whispered as he left the room.

They weren't far away, an hour's drive, but it would be easier to stay there than travel.
He made sure his phone was close by incase of an emergency.
It was while recording a talk show the next day that his phone vibrated. He left it a while and it went again and again.
"Sorry I've got to take this." He apologised and walked away.
"Clemmy calm down. I can't understand you. Take a breath."
The others had joined him.
"What... How? When? Is she..? She's got to. Tell her she's got to. OK ok I'll get back as soon as I can but tell her OK." He hung up and looked at them.
Taking a deep breath he told them what had happened. The studio said they would take him back on one of their courier bikes for quickness.
"We'll bring your stuff. Go, make sure she's ok. Give her our love." Luis told him.
Climbing on the back of the bike he held on as it sped towards his home.

Alexis

When Jacob left, she slowly climbed the stairs to bed, looking forward to a few hours before Clemmy came. Half way up she went a little dizzy and slipped down the stairs.
It was here Clemmy found her an hour later.
"I'll ring for an ambulance." She took out her phone.
"I'm not going to the hospital. I'm Ok I just need to get to bed." She told the older woman.
"Alexis. You have had a fall, you are 8 and a half months pregnant, you need to be checked over."
"OK but I'm not going to the hospital." She argued as the woman put a cover over her.

Breathing deeply she waited for Clemmy to come back from the kitchen.
"It's on its way."
A few minutes later the paramedics came in and looked her over. As much as they insisted she needed to go in she told them just to get her to bed.
"Put in your report that I refused to accept your suggestion."
They helped her to the bedroom.
"I'm staying tonight." Clemmy told her.
"Whatever, Clemmy. I just want to sleep." She murmured.

It was the next afternoon that the pains started to get really strong. Clemmy argued that she needed to go to delivery. She heard her on the phone.
"Jacobs coming home. He says you are going to the hospital."
"Why did you ring him? He's home tomorrow. I could still be in labour then."
"Because he is the daddy and he said he was to be kept informed." The old woman stood with her arms folded.
"Tell me you didn't tell him about the fall. You have, haven't you." The old woman looked down. "Clemmy!!!"
Dropping back on the pillows, she moaned at the pain that gripped her stomach. Her husband was going to chew her head off.
