I was so happy to see Tamera again. I haven't seen her since she was first diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She delt with this illness since she was in college back in the 70's and decided she's done all she could in her life.
Tears were running down my face continuously when I found her sitting in the kitchen drinking tea. An oxygen tank sitting behind her on a pulling cart.
"Oh Tamera! Oh god! You shouldn't have!" I sobbed worrying so much about her health.
"Oh Jake, sweetie. You were my favorite case! I'd do anything for you!" Tamera sniffled while she wrapped her frail and boney arms around me.
"Tamera, you're health! The stress isn't good for..."
"Now don't you start. Don't you worry about me honey. I'll be fine. Now tell me about your life here! I've been watching the show since the start and saw all of your live streams."
So, I did, I told her how I felt about being here, how life has been, spilling every detail, even what went on with Amanda before I made the decision to end my term with the state and make a living with social media.
"I knew that woman was no good. I'll talk to some of my contacts and see what they can do."
I nodded and made another cup of tea for Tamera. She gave me a small smile before she started hacking up a lung from coughing so much. I patted her back as gently as I could.
"Jake, I'll be fine. I have a plan. I won't suffer I promise. For now, let's enjoy this time together." Tamera murmured. I nodded and escorted her to the living room where Max was already sitting with someone who could pass as his clone.
"Oh my, what are some handsome men like you two sitting out here for?" Tamera giggled with covering her smile with her frail hand.
"Tamera!" I giggled while lightly swatting her. Tamera was always a flirt, even in her old age. From what she told me, Tamera was a beauty queen turned small town darling.
"Well, hello, I'm Jason and this is my son Max. It seems our boys get along great." Max's dad stated with a smirk.
"Oh, I know they do" Tamera giggled. I looked over at Max and saw he was trying to cover up his smile but wasn't having any luck.
Soon everyone was gathered around and introduced. But then there was a lack on conversation. No one knew what to talk about. Every parent or guardian has been watching what they could of the show. It felt awkward.
"So Jake, ever done any shows here in California? I know a great place where the party gets going." Mr. Foster suggested while chugging from his water bottle.
"I've thought about it. However, the show kind of causes filming conflicts." I said while thinking about all those offers I've gotten since the show started.
"Ah, I get it. No problem. I'm sure the schedules for all of you will change when the times comes. One of my college friends, Lucy runs a bar in town and she's always looking for new hires." Mr. Foster offered while showing me some pictures of the bar. I've seen it every so often when the six of us are running errands in town.
"Thank you Mr. Foster!" I replied while trying so hard not to smile too much. It seemed like everything was going perfectly.
