The blonde girl was starting to upset me. Her giggle and fake cheeriness kind of set off my nerves. I could tell she and the gorgeous man I sat next to on the love seat had some sort of history together. The air between the two was tense.
I didn't get mixed up into too much drama but their body language told a whole story.
They wouldn't glance at each other, there were no words traded amongst them.
"So Bianca, other than fantasy and historical fiction, what other books are you looking forward to reading?" the boy with the bright red lips asked. I loved watching his videos, he seemed to fight for the right people. It's not every day that I meet someone whose so passionate about equal rights among everyone.
"Thank you for asking, I was hoping to start doing dystopian or maybe murder mysteries. My dad always tells me my voice can carry the suspense." I suggested while wringing my hands together. I was nervous. I was very much an introvert and no matter how hard I tried to fit in it was never enough. My classmates never understood why I'd spend so much time in the library or why I refuse to go shopping for new clothes for some school dance.
"Oh, have you read Maggie's Journal? It's supposed to be about a young girl who lived during the first World War." Max suggested while shifting his attention towards me. His bright green eyes were full of wonder and his interest in what books I've read and wanted to read gave me a feeling of giddy and butterflies.
"Oh! I remember that one! My global history class had to read passages for a project! I think your voice would be perfect to read Maggie's entries!" Jake announced.
I took a sip of the jasmine tea that had been made by Lisa and myself.
I thought that tea would help ease the tension and so far it has. I've gotten to know Jake and Lisa pretty well.
They were both really sweet. But when it came to Max and Kim. I kept my distance. A little more with Kim than Max.
All of a sudden Jake's phone started to ring. The song playing was familiar and it was very peppy.
"Guys, it's from Crane. We have our first challenge for the lives!"
We all gathered around Jake while he started to read it out loud.
