Midoriya finished his food and told Iida and Uraraka goodnight before heading upstairs. Before bed, he went over to Todoroki's dorm to check on him.
[Midoriya]: "Todoroki-kun? Is something wrong? I noticed you acting strange during dinner... I got a little worried." He knocked on the door.
[Midoriya]: "Was it because of something I did? Or someone else?" He still heard no response and sighed.
After a couple minutes of waiting, Midoriya still didn't hear a thing and decided to open the door. When he opened it, Todoroki wasn't in there, but the patio door had been left open. He panicked and ran out to the patio, looking around to see if he was there but he didn't see anyone.
[Midoriya]: "Todoroki!" He yelled out into the rain but no one responded.
Todoroki waited outside Midoriya's room, ignoring the cold from the rain for a while. Eventually though, he felt colder than when he used his ice quirk to its full power.
[Todoroki]: "I wonder where he is..." He decided to leave and go find him.
Midoriya went to every room in the dorms, asking anyone who was in them if Todoroki had stopped by. However, he got the same answer every time; "No, I haven't seen him since dinner."
Eventually, Midoriya went outside to go look for Todoroki, since he clearly wasn't in the dorms anymore. He forgot an umbrella since his mind was filled with anxiety of what could've happened to Todoroki.
[Midoriya]: "Todoroki! TODOROKI! Are you out there?!" He walked down the path in between the forest and kept calling out his name.
Without Midoriya knowing, Iida and Uraraka also went outside to help find Todoroki when they were told that he was missing.
[Todoroki]: "Is someone saying my name?" His ears flicked into the direction of the forest when he heard the sound of his name.
He recognized the voice immediately when he got down the building and walked towards the forest.
[Todoroki]: "Midoriya?" He ran down the path to go find him.
[Todoroki]: "How did he already know that I was gone..." He picked up the pace when he saw him just ahead.
Midoriya was exhausted and cold from being out in the rain for an hour, but he couldn't give up. Todoroki had to be around here somewhere. But why did he just leave out of nowhere?
[Midoriya]: "Todoroki-kun!" He barely managed to yell, since his voice was exhausted as well.
All of a sudden when he looked behind him, he saw the mysterious cat walking towards him.
[Midoriya]: "Little one? How did you find me all the way out here?" He wondered and knelt down in front of it.
[Todoroki]: "Is he... looking for me?" He climbed up onto Midoriya's head and laid down on it to protect his face from the rain.
[Midoriya]: "You're such a mysterious cat... well, if you see anyone, just meow." He felt slightly more at ease now that the cat was with him, but he was still having mini panic attacks every time he thought of something bad that could've happened to Todoroki.
Todoroki already knew that it was Midoriya's nature to go find a missing friend or help someone... but he still couldn't believe that he was being looked for.
[Todoroki]: "Don't get your hopes up... he only thinks of you as a friend. He'd do this for anyone else... I'm no one special." He remembered and felt his heart sink again.
After about a whole other hour, Midoriya still hadn't given up even though he's probably checked the entire forest around them by now.
However, he eventually ran into Iida and Uraraka who were looking for Midoriya since he'd been out for so long. They told him to come back inside as soon as possible or he'd catch a cold.
Midoriya sighed, knowing they were right, and went back to his dorm room through the patio door since he had the cat with him.
[Midoriya]: "I wonder where he could've gone..." He sat down on the floor, not bothering to change yet out of his soaking wet clothes.
[Todoroki]: "I'm right here... don't cry." He felt a wave of guilt wash over him when he saw a tear fall down Midoriya's face.
[Midoriya]: "He's not the type of person to just leave... he had to have a reason... right?" He wondered as the cat came to sit in his lap.
Looking down at the cat, he sensed something familiar about it again. All of a sudden, he heard footsteps coming to his room down the hall and he quickly put the cat outside.
[Midoriya]: "Coming!" He wiped away his tears and walked over to the door when he heard the knocks.
Todoroki stayed out of sight outside while Midoriya talked to whoever was at the door.
*Meanwhile*
Kirishima sat in his dorm, wondering why Midoriya had come to his room earlier. He remembered him looking so frantic and mentioning that Todoroki wasn't in his dorm.
[Kirishima]: "I should probably check outside real quick. Just to see if he's out there." He opened his patio door and walked outside into the room.
However, when he looked to his right, he saw a cat down at the end of the patio. It had to be the one that Midoriya brought inside the other day. Quickly and quietly, he ran over and snatched the stray cat away.
[Kirishima]: "Gotcha! I can't have you roaming around since Bakubro is so allergic to you, I'm sorry." He felt the cat squirm wildly in his arms so he activated his quirk so the scratches wouldn't hurt.
Todoroki tried to pull out of Kirishima's grip to try and get back to Midoriya's room but it was no use. He wasn't strong like he normally would be as a human, and when he tried to scratch him, it didn't do anything because of his hardening quirk.
[Kirishima]: "Stop moving so much! I'm not trying to hurt you, I'm just trying to get you away from here." He tried to reassure it but it still kept trying to attack him.
About 10 minutes after walking through the forest behind the dorms, Kirishima set down the cat by a couple bushes and ran off after apologizing again. Todoroki needed to rest for a couple minutes since the entire way through the forest, he used a lot of energy trying to fight Kirishima.
[Todoroki]: "I need to get back..." He made himself start walking back.
Midoriya finished his brief conversation with Iida who came to check on him, and went back outside to bring the cat back inside. But when he walked out onto the patio, the cat was nowhere to be seen.
[Midoriya]: "Now he's missing too... but a cat wouldn't just leave out in the rain alone." He looked out into the forest, having a feeling that the cat might be out there.
[Midoriya]: "I'll go out again... I'll look for both of them. No matter what though, I need to find Todoroki." He jumped off the patio and ran into the forest again.
(aaaand Todoroki has no braincells and goes missing twice now lol. Onto the next chapter!)
