Chapter 28

When I got to the Curtis house I saw that Johnny was the only one there. So I asked Johnny " hey Johnny do you want to go walk around and maybe go to the lot" and he said "sure do you have your switchblade" and I proudly pulled it out of my back pocket and nodded. Then we walked outside and headed to the lot. When we got there we sat down under a tree and start talking about school and stuff. Then I saw two girls walking towards us and it was Sylvia and Evie so I got up and ran the other way and I heard them chasing me and I ran to the DX and bumped into Soda while he was talking to Steve. He asked me " Kaley what's wrong" and I said "they are after me" still trying to catch my breathe and he had a puzzled look and said "who is after you" and I said " Sylvia and Evie" and Steve said " they are coming to the DX right now I see them" and I turned and saw that they were running to the DX so Steve grabbed me and pulled me into a closet and said "stay here and I will come get you when they are gone" and I nodded. I could hear Sylvia talking trash to Soda and Steve and then I heard her say "Dally is a player and cold hearted" and that's when I exploded, I slam the door open and walked up to her said " don't ever say that about Dally ever again" and pulled out my blade and held it against her throat. Then I saw that the rest of the gang was running up to the DX and they walked in and saw that I had a blade against Sylvia's throat and then Sylvia punched me in the stomach and she tried to run but I ran after her and jumped on top of her and made her fall to the ground. Then Darry tried to to pull me away from almost killing her but I wouldn't budge. Then I heard a click noise and I soon felt a sharp pain in my stomach and I heard the gang scream "no don't do it no" and then I blacked out.
Soda's P.O.V
When Sylvia stabbed Kaley I was furious and sad because I lost not only my sister but my best friend. Darry and Ponyboy took Kaley to the hospital and the rest of the gang went back home. I was so sad that I ran away. Dally found me out in the lot crying and I told him what happened and he went to Buck's and got his stuff and went to the train station but I stopped him.
