Chapter 31

When I got back to the Curtis house with Dally I was greeted with hugs and questions from the gang. Leslie and Joarely came by and they ran up to me and gave me a hug and Leslie said "oh my gosh Kaley we are so glad your ok and we missed you and were worried that you wouldn't make it" and I said "I made it I'm ok." Then I sat back down next to Dally and he grabbed me and put me on his lap. I whispered in his ear "I'm going for a walk" and he whispered back to me "ok do you want me to go with you" and I said "no it's ok I got my switchblade" he nodded and I went outside. I went to the lot and sat down by a tree. I heard someone walking towards me and I went to go grab my switchblade and I turned and saw that it was Ponyboy. I put my blade away and he sat down next to me. Then he said "what are you doing out here all alone" and I said "I don't know I just need some time to think" and he nodded and left. I slowly got up and walked back to the Curtis house. When I got there everybody was gone so I just sat down on the couch and stared at the black screen on tv. Then someone tapped on my shoulder and I almost jumped out of my skin and I turned and saw Dally and I punched him in the arm and said "please don't do that again" and he said "ok I won't" and sat down next to me. I laid my head on his shoulder and he whispered in my ear "do you want to go back to our house" and I nodded and he picked me up bridal style and we walked to our house. About half way there I saw people were staring at me so I said to Dally "can I have a piggy back ride instead please" he nodded and smiled and put me down and I jumped on his back. When we got to the house he set me down on the bed and I got up and I said "I'm going to go take a shower" and he said "ok if you need anything just hollar" I nodded and got my clothes as went into the bathroom. When I was done I got ready for bed and I put on one of Dally's shirts and a pair of my short shorts. When I got out of the bathroom I saw Dally already in bed but he was facing the window which was on the other side of the room, so I got in bed and put my arm on his and said "what's wrong" and he turned and said "I'm just worried about you" and gave me a weak smile and said "I'm ok Dally" and I put my head on his chest and we both fell asleep.
