Chapter 22

Today I woke up and got dressed and decided to braid my hair. When I went downstairs I saw the whole gang on the couch and Dally said " hey beautiful" and I blushed and said hi and then sat on his lap and he put his hands on my waist and kissed me. The gang started whistling and cheering except for Steve he just cussed under his breath. Then I said to Dally " hey do you want to go the diner" and he said sure. So with that we left and went to the diner and when we got the diner we sat down and Dally said "Kaley there's something I need to ask you" and I said ok. Then he got up and bent down on one knee and said "will you marry me" and I screamed and said "oh my gosh yes" and then he gave me a really pretty ring. Then I jumped on his back and he gave me a piggy back ride and then we went to the Curtis house and when we walked in everybody looked at us and Ponyboy said "why are you guys so happy" and Dally put me down and said "well I asked her if she will marry me and she said yes" and then Steve was so mad that he said " I hope you have a happy life with the girl I was going to ask to marry me" and walked out crying. Then I ran after him and caught up to him and said "what do you want" and I put my hand on his shoulder and said "you really were going to ask me that" and he said "yes but before I could do it Evie threatened me that if I didn't go out with her she would make sure that you would get hurt real bad and I was just trying to protect you" and I wiped his tears away and went to the diner where I saw Evie and Steve came with me. When Evie saw Steve she said "hey baby" and tried pulling him towards her but then I grabbed Steve and kissed him and said "you better back off Evie or else I'll make sure that you get hurt" and her eyes widened and she said " ok you win you can have him I don't care about him anymore" and she walked out. Steve just stood there stunned and I asked him "what's wrong" and he said "nothing it's just you kissed me when your already getting married" and I said "well I don't know for sure if I can get married yet I'm just not ready." Then we walked back to the Curtis house and on the way we saw Evie and some guy making out and when we got closer I saw that it was Dally and then I just threw the ring at him and said "why don't you ask her to marry you instead your both players so you guys will be perfect together" and then I ran crying and Steve ran after and I heard him calling my name but I ignored him and then I ran inside the Curtis house crying. I ran into my room without stopping and just laid on my bed crying and crying. Then Soda came in and said "hey sis there is someone here to see you" and I said "just let them in" and with that he left and someone else walked in and I turned and saw Steve and he came up to me and said "it's going to be ok do you want to go to Dairy Queen I'll by you some ice cream" and I said "sure why not."
