Flower Petals

Seungcheol and Joshua have been a couple for a few months now, and while at first everyone took the news in stride, now it's much more complicated. Jeonghan doesn't come out of his room much any more, and he's often ill; Chan is by his side all the time, but he can't seem to make his eldest feel better.

At the moment, the second-oldest member of the group is in bed, looking at photos of himself and his best friend on his laptop as if he and his youngest were exes and missing each other. He and Joshua aren't like that, though, and his fusional relationship with him is now non-existent, which hurts him enormously. In fact, when he sees a certain photo and certain memories come back to him, he starts to cry and gets up to go and vomit in the bathroom.

When he emerges from the bathroom, he comes face to face with Chan, whose eyes are red, swollen and, above all, tired. He's lost a lot of weight and can barely stand on his own two legs. Chan bows his head to the floor and asks Jeonghan to come with him, the elder follows and the two boys arrive in the maknae's room.

Together, they take a seat on the younger boy's bed and start talking about anything and everything, right up to the subject that hurts. The love affair between Seungcheol and Joshua. At the mention of this event, the older one starts crying and hides his face in his hands out of shame, while Chan gets up from his bed and goes back to the bathroom to throw up flower petals again.

" Dino ? Are you throwing up flower petals too ? " asks Jeonghan, who has accompanied his youngest all the way here.

" Why you too ? I've been throwing up flower petals ever since they announced they were a couple. "

" Yes me too, have you done any research ? "

" Yes, it's a disease called Hanahaki... it happens when one person loves another but it's a one-way love. I can die from it if he never returns the love I have for him, but I can also get cured and this will erase all the memories I have of him."

" So whether it's one or the other it's just not possible. You can't die, that's out of the question, but you can't forget Cheol either. And in my case, because I'm the same, dying or forgetting Shuji-ya is just as impossible. We'll have to find a solution. "

" I know how chaotic it would be, the fans would never understand the reason. Of our death or the fact that we're ignoring them because we don't know who knows anymore. "

" The only thing that could fix everything is that Cheol loves you too. And that Shua loves me."

" That's impossible ! He loves him so much and I don't want their relationship to be broken."

" Our lives are at stake Chan."

" I know..."

Chan starts to cry and Jeonghan takes him in his arms, what they don't know is that someone concerned by this was there behind the door listening to the conversation, now that he knows everything all he has to do is fix the situation.

The boy quickly found his boyfriend in the living room, grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him outside for a quiet chat with no one to disturb them.

The boy's eyes begin to glisten, and this really worries the other as he looks at him with affection and tenderness. The boy tries to wipe away the tears rolling down the other's cheeks, but he backs away and avoids contact.

" Joshie, what's going on ? "

" Our relationship has to end Cheol, it should never have started in the first place."

" Why do you say that ? "

" Cheol, you're a guy made of gold really but your heart doesn't belong to me, do you remember at the beginning of our relationship? We told ourselves we were doing this to forget the person we really love. "

" You want to end our relationship so you can be with Jeonghan Hum ? "

" Yes and you, please open your heart to Chan and be a couple you deserve to be happy together."

Seungcheol swallows and nods, taking Joshua in his arms anyway. It's true that he loves his younger son, but probably not like that; on the other hand, Chan has known for some time now that he feels much more than friendship for him.

After this hug, Joshua frees himself from Seungcheol's arms and goes straight to Chan's room, but Jeonghan is no longer there, so the American goes to his elder's room and finds him there, vomiting flower petals into a bucket.

" Jeonghannie ! Why are you throwing up flower petals ? "

Even though he knows he'd rather ask a second time to make sure he's understood correctly.

" Shua ? Nothing, don't worry, why are you here ? Shouldn't you be with Cheol ? "

" Let me tell you something, Cheol and I have never been more than friendly with each other."

" Don't lie to me just so I'll tell you the truth."

" I assure you I'm not, if you like we've been a couple because we thought we felt things for each other but in the end we realized a little later that we were attracted to someone else."

" I'm throwing up flower petals because I love you Shua, except it's a one-way love so..."

So Joshua comes slowly to Jeonghan's side on his bed and takes his elder's face between his two hands to place his lips on that of the one he truly loves. The exchange is gentle and pleasant, all slow, relaxing and innocent. Jeonghan's hands quickly reach Joshua's back, and the American ends up with both hands in his eldest's hair.

The kiss continues for a few moments, then finally Joshua pulls back and comes to bite his lower lip, the red in his cheeks.

" You're the one who started kissing me, and you're the one who's shy and blushing ? "

" I don't think I've ever loved anyone but you. My heart speeds up like this only for you. "

" You're never jealous when I flirt with others."

" No, there's no point, I find. I know your heart belongs to me and I trust the others too. The only one I could be jealous of is Hyungwon."

" No, I assure you that you don't even have to be jealous of him, I only love you! Besides, he's already in a relationship too. "

" I only love you too. Now you have no reason to throw up flower petals."

" That's right. "

The two lovers' foreheads come to meet and they stay like this until the sun sets, the two lovers couldn't dream of anything better and Jeonghan is finally happy to be able to tell himself that he won't be throwing up flower petals any more and that his love for his younger is now reciprocated.
