(Ayanokoji POV)

Bell and Shinobu went ahead to the room where the despairs were, while Kyoko and I were heading for Subaru.

Even though I have known Subaru for only a while, I know for sure he wouldn't put himself in direct danger. I can't tell if it's because of caution or cowardice though.

"...I've been thinking about something," Kyoko said while still keeping an eye out for our surroundings, "What if Subaru already left? He doesn't have to be here right?"

"True, he doesn't have to be. But that would make the point of him taking over the simulation pointless."

In the simulation, a virus had initially invaded it. That Virus was something else Junko had made. However, that virus had basically got taken care of by Subaru who was closer to the sight then anyone.

To be honest, not even I understood what he wanted. He definitely wanted the same thing as us, to get rid of the despairs, yet he was taking a more ethically wrong approach. I guess it's not what he wants then, but why.

We walked around in silence a little more, when I heard a loud crash upstairs.

"Ayano-"

Before Kyoko could finish, I was already off running. Using my sense of hearing and remembering where the point was, I ran all the way upstairs and saw a man with long black hair about to kill Bell.

I picked up the pace to my max and tackled him away, taking him through two walls.

Afterward, without looking back at Bell, I attempted to pin him.

However, almost as if we both came to the same conclusion at the same time, both of our eyes got a shade narrower.

'...He's strong.'

I'm sure that's what he was thinking too.

I was still on top of him, but keeping him alive right now was not an option. As I tried to get a hand on his neck while trying to keep him fully pinned, he was able to forcefully break through and shove me off.

We both backed up a little bit.

"..."

"..."

It was strange, we were oddly alike. I could see his brain working to analyze me and I was doing the same thing to him.

"...You must be Kiyotaka."

"..."

I didn't answer. I knew Subaru had likely informed whoever would be on his side of me, so I wasn't surprised. What I was surprised about though, was his strength. His intellect as well.

However, both of us weren't talkers. We both went in to fight again.

We both took more defensive stances to try and gauge the strength of each other.

'When I saw Bell, he was kicked through two concrete walls with multiple broken ribs. I should assume that level to be the minimum.'

I went in for a jab which he dodged, and he responded with a jab of his own, I grabbed his wrist to pull him in and went for a punch with my other hand.

He seemed ready for it though and pulled up his leg to block.

Since he was on one leg, I quickly attempted to kick his calf with a lot of force to bring him down. Going all out right now wasn't ideal. If I could kill him without doing so, then that would be better.

However, what happened went beyond my expectations. My kick landed, but it felt like killing a steel wall.

In the instant, I realized that he made his move. He jumped up and wrapped both legs around my neck to choke me.
