Can't be myself

Chapter 6 (5 years later)

"Josh, I gotta get to class, can't be late!" I said as Josh rushed through a cabinet and gave me some school supplies. I rushed out the door, grabbing my keys. The bell rang as I parked, yay I'm late on my first day! "Miss Emilia, your late, no excuses, detention!" Said Mrs. Bray, wow detention on the first day, I'm turning into Josh! I walked towards the detention room, ready to be berated by Josh when I get home. I sat down as someone entered. It just so happened to be Lexi. "How the fuck did you get detention?" She asked me. "I was 2 minutes late, how 'bout you?" I responded. "I may have flipped off the teacher...." She said, that literally sounds like something she would do. "Why!?" I asked with a giggle. "The teacher was trying to flirt with me, you know Mr. Lyle?" I seriously thought he was dead. "How's your brother btw? My dad doesn't tell me shit." She said. "He's good. Him and Chase are rarely with me, cause they are working, or... you get the idea!" I replied. She laughed. Josh is still not very happy about the incident in 7th grade.... "Josh and my dad haven't hung out in years, any idea why?" She asked. "Josh ain't very happy about the incident, 7th grade...." I replied, "Girl, that was 5 years ago!" She said, "I am legit sorry about that." She finished. "It's fine seriously, I haven't been mad since 8th grade." I said. "Wanna be friends again? Won't fix the damage but, it's kinda weird without you. Like you were my voice of reason." She said, which caused me to giggle.

The bell finally rang for lunch, meaning detention was over. I got into the cafeteria, seeing Alex flirting with a boy in our grade. So i decided to sit at a different table. I sat down as Lexi sat beside me. Alex appeared behind Lexi, "Hurt my bestie, your dead." Alex said as she sat across from me. "She knows about the incident, she will quite literally kill you." I said with a laugh. "Oh...." Lexi let off a fearful sigh. "Why didn't you join me?" Alex asked, "I thought I'd leave you alone when your trying to flirt with that ugly man." Alex looked offended, "it's not my fault you like girls!" Alex said. "It's hers." I point to Lexi as she gets offended. Lexi tried to find the right words but she couldn't, she just rolled her eyes.

When I got home I sat down as I received a text from a number I haven't seen in five years. I smiled at the screen. Am I forming a crush on her again?
