[ YEAR < May 2015 > ] - last day in Thailand
THE NEXT DAY....
⎯⎯ ୨ THIRD PERSON'S ୧ ⎯⎯
Kala woke up to the faint hum of the air conditioning and the golden glow of dawn filtering through the sheer curtains. She blinked at the ceiling, momentarily disoriented, before the events of the past week flooded back into her mind like an uninvited wave. Her last full day in Thailand had arrived, and her schedule, as always, was packed. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, letting her feet meet the cool floor. There was no time for reflection—only action.
The memory of their conversation at the hospital played in her mind like a stubborn echo.
"You need a day off, Kala," her ma had said, her voice soft but firm.
"Ma, I'm fine," Kala insisted, sitting upright in her hospital bed. "I can't just stop everything. The world doesn't stop for me."
Her father's frown deepened. "This isn't about the world, it's about you. You've been through enough."
"And stopping won't make it better," Kala argued, her voice rising slightly. "It'll just give me more time to think, and that's the last thing I need right now."
Her brother Jimin, who had flown in from Seoul after hearing the news, had crossed his arms. "You're stubborn, you know that? But fine, do what you have to do. Just... don't push yourself too hard."

The clock on the bedside table ticked insistently, pulling her from her thoughts. It was already 6:30 a.m., and the day was waiting for her. She rose from the bed, her limbs aching with the weight of yesterday's exertions, and went about her routine. The monotony of brushing her teeth, tying her hair back, and slipping into her training gear was comforting—a shield against the chaos of her emotions.
