✧⋆⁺₊⛰︎⛰︎⛰︎⋆⁺₊✧I searched the woman's expression for some answers. The way her body posture had tensed and her eyes and grown wide. Before anything else could be said, Jake interrupted.
"We can adapt! I was born to the sky people and now I am Na'vi. We can learn your ways."
This made the Tsahík turn around and make her way next time her mate. I watched intently for any reason why Ronal had acted the way she did towards me and my sister. Why did her mood change when I spoke the names of my parents?
"My mate is Toruk Makto. He led the clans to victory against the sky people."
Neytiri now seemed to be in defending mode of her family. The way Ronal had spoken about her children could not have angered their mother any more.
"You call this victory? Running? Hiding amongst strangers?... Seems Eywa has turned her back on you chosen one."
The words the Tsahík spoke earned a hiss from Neytiri, which was gladly returned.
"I apologize for my mate..."
"Jake do not apologize for me."
"She's had a long ride, we all have, she is just tired."
I rolled my eyes at the adults. I was getting bored of the exchange. I felt a tail brush up against my back, earning my attention. Neteyam was glancing at me, shaking his head at my reaction to the adults. It was a way of telling me to be respectful. Only something that the eldest Sully child would do.
"The Sully's will stay with us! Welcome them into our home and treat them as your own brothers and sisters. They will be like babies taking their first breath in water. Teach them so they do not suffer the shame of being useless."
The Olo'eyktan spoke to the entirety of his people. The crowd almost immediately began to fade away with the Na'vi having their own conversations about our arrival.
"My daughter Tsireya and son Ao'nung will help your family settle in and learn our ways."
I watched as the chiefs son almost immediately began to argue with the idea, but was shut down just as fast.
"Come I will show you our village."
His sister on the other hand was the complete opposite. She was very kind and welcoming. My sister had run ahead of me to play with Tuk. They jumped along the netting the Metkayina clan used to walk over the water around them. I smiled a little seeing the two girls already enjoying the setting. Lo'ak had sped ahead to be closer to his new crush as she led the family, which led me and Neteyam by ourselves in the back of the family.
"What was that between you and the Tsahík?"
The question caught me slightly off guard.
"You're asking the wrong person. I'm just as confused as you are."
And the subject was left at that. Maybe the woman was just surprised to see someone from the mountains here. I mean I know they're our ancestors, but that was ages ago. We had changed and grown to adapt to the mountains, but looking at the Metkayina people I could see the physical similarities that I held to them. The wider ribcages, shorter heights, and similar toned skin made it apparent that in some way we came from the same people.
