"He arrived this afternoon," Pak Kia said, setting out some plates.

Music played softly on the radio and she heard her boyfriend humming along to the tune as he looked at the computer screen. Concentrating, he typed on the keyboard until he paused in his activity and confronted his gaze with hers. She was standing at a counter in the corner of the large, light-filled room. As the coffee machine made a soft beeping sound, she set the filled cup down on one of the small plates.

She was outwardly calm, but Jeon Jeongguk sensed that she was only trying to appear so. He knew that this business with Yeonjun was bothering her. It had hit her hard to see her new protégé like this, even though she didn't really know him.

There were three young adults in the office, chatting about the latest happenings. The large windows offered a great view of the meadow areas, as the building was located in a beautiful, green spot. It was partially surrounded by a small, densely overgrown forest, which acted like a protective shield. Nevertheless, the Moonlit Residence was not closed off from the outside world, and it didn't take long to get to the interior of the big city of Seoul by city bus.

"And how was he?" asked Jung Hoseok, a red-haired man in his mid-twenties who had made himself comfortable on the dark red sofa. Broad-legged, he sat there watching Pak Kia's every move.

How deliberate she was in doing so, just as she was in dealing with other people. She had become careful in what she said, because Pak Kia knew that words and especially actions could hurt someone very much. And Pak Kia didn't want to hurt anyone.

She hastily dumped the milk into the coffee cup, making it spill over. "Aish," the residence manager cursed, grabbing the cloth off the shelf to clean up the mess.

"Are you okay, little one?" it was the usually joyful voice of Jung Hoseok that looked at her with concern as she wiped her glowing forehead with her sleeve.

"I'm not on task today," Pak Kia apologized, hearing the dark-haired photographer and her firm friend rise from the squeaky desk chair. Before Jeon Jeongguk could see the mishap and utter his usual 'please don't stress yourself', she placed the next cup so that the machine could fill it directly. With a cursory glance, she tried to get an overview, because even these three cups were too complicated for her today. Pak Kia stood there, completely overwhelmed, before she felt warm, protective hands on her hips. She was aware that the boy she had given her heart to could literally smell it when something was wrong with her. She also knew that he would always stand by her, whether it had something to do with the residence or the spilt milk.

"Sit down, I'll do it," Jeon Jeongguk whispered in her ear and kissed her head, causing her to let out a relieved sigh. Exhausted, she leaned back against his shoulder, looking for support and glad to have it. Closing her eyes, she waited until the gray sky outside turned back to a deep light blue.

But when she opened her eyes again, she felt the same gloomy mood as before.

It was the day Choi Yeonjun came to the residence.
