Chapter 9 "The Gauntlet and Gift"

A/N: Hey there readers! I’m back, it took me a while since I’ve been dealing with schoolwork and just overall being tired from just writing. But I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! The next chapter will be the finale of Oryx, the Lucent King! I also want to say that I might write an epilogue chapter (which won’t be a long chapter btw) just to wrap up some left behind pieces of the story. *Cough* Loyal Lucent Brood *Cough*

I also wanted to let you guys know that this is a more Oryx orientated chapter! So yeah, it's always good to have Oryx scenes. But I did forget to make Helton do some of the fighting, I’ll just have to give him a much more prominent role in Chapter 10 then. But other than that, enjoy!

Recap:

Inside the Library of Navigation, Oryx would reveal to his council that Priznoth, the failed member of the council, ghost had managed to allow the Lucent King to listen in on the conversation that Juliana, Helton, and Khan had regarding their next plan.

He would assign Ha-Tith, who oversees the Apothecary, to set up an ambush for when the guardians eventually come to kill her. Oryx would also assign Krotu to be Ha-Tith's bodyguard but warns the Acolyte Lightbearer of what happens when you fail...

Oryx then checked up on Šimmumah regarding the progress of the device that could power the Dreadnaught’s weapon with Light.

But Šimmumah would also be tasked by Oryx to safeguard the head of the deceased disciple Rhulk. However, the Lucent King would also be told about a recent discovery by Šimmumah, apparently a ‘gift’ by the Witch Queen for Oryx, a ship...

After that bit of news, Oryx and Ecthar would retreat to the Sanctum of the Brood Queen to await the guardian's arrival...
For the fire team.

Juliana, Helton, and Khan would say their goodbyes to Fynch and Ikora Rey as their mission is to now find Ha-Tith in the Apothecary and kill her before moving on and storming the Sanctum to defeat the Lucent King once and for all.

However, the plan would go astray as in their attempt to defeat Ha-Tith, the guardians found themselves unable to escape when a horde of Hive Enforcers appeared before them. Luckly the fireteam would manage to escape but now found themselves trapped within the Court of Savathûn...

The currently conscious members of the fireteam continued to run and run as distant roars and yells of Hive Enforcers echoed behind them.
Khan’s mind continued to be strained as she focused on escaping and carrying the unconscious body of Juliana that was currently woven in a Strand cocoon.
