It was an autumn morning. The air was crisp, the leafs were brown, the wind blew soflty tapping against the windows. The Maitlands were cuddled up with their arms and legs intertwined together, keeping eachother warm and cozy.

"YOURE SUCH AN IDIOT!" Lydia shouted abruptly. The house felt like it was shaking as Lydia stormed downstairs. The demon followed her and shouted back "WELL IF IM AN IDIOT, THEN WHAT DOES THAT MAKE ME? No, I mean YOU!"

"It makes me CONCERNED that a CHILD is SMARTER than and OLD BORING MAN!" She shouted staring up at the demon. "HEY! I AM NOT ADAM! I'm far from boring. I'll accept the rest but not boring. Take it back." The demon pouted. "Nope, too late." Lydia responded. The demons hair went dark red as he got irritated with the girl.  "AHHH! TAKE IT BACK!" He whined, screaming in the girls face, like a child.

A little black cat walked in though the door, which caught Lydia's attention. "Shhh, calm beetlejuice." She said in a soft relaxed tone as she knew this would annoy him more. "You'll scare the kitten." Lydia smiled condescendingly. "AGGHH! FUCK THAT CAT! YOU EMO GOTH!" He yelled. The house rumbled, purple and green smoke filled the air followed by a BANG!

Beetlejuice blinked and since there was smoke he began coughing. "Lydia? Where did you go?" He asked timidly, looking around for his friend. The cat slowly walked over to him and meowed. Beetlejuice stared down at his feet and gasped "oh shit.." he blinked as his mouth dropped open. "Lydia?" He stared at the black cat as it meowed back. "Oh, I'm going to be in trouble." He sighed, hitting his forehead with the palm of his hand a few times, while repeating the word 'stupid'.

Eventually, the terrified demon got the slightest feeling of courage and walked up to the Maitlands room. He knocked on the door afew times and called out "guys?".

"Come in!" Barbara said cheerily. She was still cuddled up to Adam as they were watching an autumn movie. Beetlejuice slowly peeked through the door and let out a breath "oh, good you're dressed." He sighed in relief. The maitlands looked at each other before Adam asked "why wouldn't we be dressed?"  He forrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Doesn't matter." The demon said getting panicked over Lydia now being a cat.

"Lawrence, what's wrong?" Barbara asked him in a soft motherly tone. Beetlejuice tugged at his blazer, like a child that was fidgeting "um- don't get mad because I did something by accident and now I'm really scared.." he gulped before quickly saying "I turned Lydia into a black cat." The maitlands eyes went wide.

"But hey, funny how she's still goth as a cat.." he shrugged his shoulders and chuckled nervously, before breaking down into tears. "Sorry!" He covered his face. Barbara got up and rubbed his back. "Hey, it's okay, why don't we go see the cat?" She sensitively suggested.

"SHES NEVER GOING TO TALK TO ME AGAIN! IM SO STUPID!" He cried and hugged Barbara, who gagged at the smell of the demon. "Shhh- it's.. okay-" Barbara felt her eyes stinging and watering as the stench flooded her sinuses. Beetlejuice cried more into her shoulder. "Can you show me Lydia please?" Barbara asked a little more serious but still in a sympathetic way.

The demon led the ghost down the creaky stairs. On the couch, sat a little black cat that was watching the tv. Barbara, gasped seeing the animal that Lydia now was. "Oh.. Lydia?" The ghost sat next to the little cat, who began  climbing onto her lap and meowing. "Oh my lord.. this is bad." The ghost panicked and took a deep breath.

"I KNOW! SEE STUPID! LYDIA WAS RIGHT!" The demon put his hands on his eyes, trying to hide his tears. "Hey, hey, hey.. do not call yourself stupid. You're not stupid. Be nice to yourself. We'll fix this, I don't know how but we will." Barbara always had this maternal energy. She was always there for people and helped them no matter what. "Thanks babs.." beetlejuice sniffled and sat next to the ghost.

"Hi, emo-goth-cat-Lydia." Beetlejuice waved at the cat and stroked her. "Sorry, I turned you into a cat. Somehow. Not gonna lie babs, I ain't got a clue how I did it." He looked off to the side trying to think. "Well, why don't you start going through the handbook for the recently deceased and I'll look after Lydia?" Barbara asked. The demon nodded and began going through the book.

Barbara had just learnt to summon things so she summoned everything she needed to look after a cat- toys, food, bowls, litter box.

After hours of searching, beetlejuice was half way through the dusty book, there was still nothing. Lydia the cat, had been running around the house and jumping on things, resulting in Barbara having to chase the cat. There were pillows on the floor, torn curtains, random things broken or out of place. The mess was agitating Barbara but Adam would help her later. Eventually, the little goth cat called and Barbara held Lydia in her arms. "You're sweet, but only when you behave." The cat mewed back and Barbara chuckled.

"I FOUND IT!" Beetlejuice stood up and shouted. Lydia hissed and jumped off Barbara lap, running around since Beej had scared the little cat. "Oh not again!" Barbara whined and huffed before slowly getting up "Jesus my back hurts." She stood rubbing it. Beetlejuice smirked. "You are disgusting." Barbara responded and followed after Lydia.
Beetlejuice ginned and followed as well.

The next half an out was like a race in between Lydia and the two slow, dead people, in the kitchen. Eventually Beej swept the cat up into his arms but Lydia got her claws out. "OW! YOU STUPID CAT!" He screamed as her nails plunged into his arms, tearing the skin open. Black blood began dripping out from his wound. "Oh, babs! I'm gonna pass out!" The demon held onto the kitchen counter, letting Lydia go.

The cat ran off into the living room and Barbara immediately turned her attention to beetlejuice, who was paler than normal. The demon slipped down slowly onto the ground, as Barbara kneeled down Infront. The ghost continued speaking to the demon, as she wrapped his arm up with a bandage

Adam came downstairs, holding a black sleeping cat. "Barbara? Babe?" He called out.
"In here!" His wife shouted back from the kitchen. "Is this lyd- what is going on..?" Adam looked at the two, since they are both on the floor. "Lydia," Barb pointed at the cat "attacked Beej and he felt faint." She looked up at her husband and stood up, then he kissed his wife's cheek.

Beetlejuice eventually stood up and summoned the handbook for the recently deceased, to his hand. He began reciting the spell and Adam put the cat on the floor quickly.

The house rumbled, purple and green smoke filled the air followed by a loud bang again. There stood a small cat and Lydia.

"What the hell happened?" Lydia looked around confused as everyone was coughing from the smoke and fanning it out of the kitchen. "Lydia, don't use that work." Adam said softly and picked the little cat back up.

"I accidentally turned you into a cat! Oh, I was so worried! I even nearly passed out from you scratching me! Babs helped." Beetlejuice cried and pulled Lydia into a big hug. "I thought I'd lost my best friend!" The demon sobbed.

"You smell so bad." Lydia scrunched her nose and gently pushed him away and patted his shoulder "well, I'm back now. Sorry if I was any trouble."

"None at all." Barbara said softly and Adam stared at her "um- Barbara." He interrupted. "Okay, maybe a little bit but we can fix that." Barbara squealed and hugging Lydia.

"Could we maybe keep this cat?" Adam asked, petting it. "Sure!" Barbara responded. "What should we call it?" Adam looked around the room. "GOTH!" Beetlejuice shouted excitedly. Lydia looked at him and glared "don't make me scratch you again. I'll do it." The teen threatened.

"How about boo?" Barbara asked and began caressing the black cats head as Boo purred.

"That's perfect." Adam smiled at his wife. "I love penguin.." he kissed Barbara gently. "I love you too." Barbara blushed softly.

"Right, let's leave these two losers alone. LETS GO BURN SOMETHING!" Beetlejuice expressed excitedly as he threw his arm up in the air. "YES!" Lydia responded and the two friends began leaving the kitchen.

"NO!" The Maitlands said in sync. "Aww, we said that at the same time!" Barbara smiled and twirled her hair. They put their foreheads together, looking deeply into each others eyes. Then, they looked down at their new purring kitten as it slept.
