Part 15 first game back

It was Leah and I'd one year a few weeks ago now and I'm back playing again. It feels so good to be back. I didn't end up playing the rest of the season even though I could off Jonas just wanted to play it safe. The new season has begun and the World Cup is at the end of this season. I spent Christmas with the Williamson family and they where more then welcoming. It was nice actually spending Christmas with someone's with out feeling like I was invading. I still can't how supportive they have all been. I play my first game back in a few days and it will be officially a year since I went off with my injury. It took longer then 9 months to recover but I'm back and better then ever. Right now Leah and I lay in bed playing sudoku like we often do, it's just one of our things we do together to wind down.

Game day back. It's been all over the internet about my return and I can't believe how much support I've received. We are playing Manchester United so it's a big game straight of the back. It's likely going to be my return debut. We are sitting on the bus leah and I Side by side as we always are. She knows I'm nervous to be back but supports me no matter what. Katie and Jen sit across from me was I play with the rings on Leah's hand.she draws circles on my back it's been about a year since my injury and I'm so scared. I'm glad I have my friends with me. We pull up in not sure if people know it's my return debut but those who play that day or are subs get off the bus. I haven't been on this bus and it's been a year since then. Something happened with the media team and the players for this game with the subs and starting 11 wasn't released so who comes off this bus could play today.The girls start filing out and I hear cheers for certain players. Just before I walk off the bus I take a breath you can do this Alex.bag over my shoulder I step off the bus to be meet by screams, cheers my name. People yelling "she's back" I have smile on my face as the camera crew even looks shocked I shoot them a thumbs up and a fan screams "she might play today!" I give her a thumbs up the put a finger over my lips as if to say shush. The fans start going nuts. I chuckle shaking my head slightly it's good to be back. Leah comes off the bus and they are still screaming for me. I hold her hand and walk off with her there definitely will be photos of that. We make it inside and it's a wave hitting me all at once I worked so hard to get back here and I'm finally back. Leah turns to me "Al they love you. There is no reason to worry" I smile and kiss her cheek "thanks Le. Let's go crush Manchester" she smiles and we trod off

The game starts and I'm in the bench. Manchester starts and it's looks to be interesting so far. I can just tell lots of cameras are on me.

34, the game is good and we both have had good chances. Beth has been close a few times but unlucky so far.

The first half ends and 20 minutes later everyone is back on the pitch. We start and immediately we gain more confidence. Jonas walks over to me "Alex time to go warm up your going on" I smile "really?!" He nod "yep" I basically jump up and start doing my warm ups down the side lines. The second I jumped up fans started recording and pointing again but I tune that out. I warm up for the next 5-10 minutes.

Alex Graye on. The second that's up and the whistle is blown the fans go fucking nuts. Screaming a few crying I want to cry. Standing in a sold out Emirates and they are all cheering for me. I hear the commentary "Alex graye has been out for just over a year and she is making her come back at home in a sold out stadium. She has worked hard to get where she is today and has inspired millions around the world. She is one of Arsenals best ever players and it is amazing to see the Australian return. Cooney cross runs off high fives and Graye runs onto the pitch. 374 days in the waiting, Look out Manchester she's back"  I run onto the pitch to fans all over the stadium including Manchester fans and players all applauding me as I run on. I have to wipe a tear. I run to my teammates my family high giving them all before running to position. I look around to see the fans it's good to be back nearly every single player in this pitch Arsenal or not looks proud. The whistle blows and the play resumes.
