"So, a Barian has to remove it?"
"I'm afraid so (y/n)."
You had an empty look in your eyes. There was no way you could go back to Vector, not when you just escaped him. And approaching any of the other Barians was out of the question too. But what else could you do then? You looked down and pulled at your shirt anxiously. Yuma noticed it and immediately tried to lift everyone's spirits again.
"Cheer up (y/n)!" He placed his hand on your shoulder and had a determined smile on his face. "We'll figure out how to solve this together! Isn't that right you guys?" And slowly, everyone else began to nod and smile too. Their newfound determination to help you was touching, and that feeling of despair slowly began to melt away, now being replaced by happiness. You looked at them, and a small smile made its way to your lips too.
"Hehe, I'm so lucky to have you guys with me."
Yuma beamed even brighter. "Of course! We'll always have your back (y/n)!" He then pulled you a little closer to he and Astral. "But for now, I think you should hang around me and Astral for a while, in case Vector comes back."
You nodded. "Good point."
"Are you going to stay over at Yuma's house, (y/n)?" Tori asked suddenly. "Since school is over and all."
You pursed your lips, just now considering that option. "I guess so. That is- " You turned to face your friend. "If you don't mind."
He gave you a thumbs up. "If don't mind at all! It'll be like a sleepover!"
You heard Cathy hiss under her breath, obviously irritated (and probably jealous) about this whole arrangement.
"Alright then, let's head home for the day!" Yuma took a hold of your hand and pulled you into a sprint.
"Bye guys! See you tomorrow." He waved.
"Woah-! Slow down Yuma or else I'll trip!"
Yuma didn't seem to listen because he didn't slow down one bit and you were left trying to keep up with him. He still had that childish smile on his lips though and you couldn't help but laugh a little at the sight of it. You soon managed to keep up with him and his hold on your hand tightened slightly. Although it was a small act, it made you feel all the more safer.
Yet there was still a small part of you that couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching you. And even though you didn't want to admit it, you knew it was him.
And far from where you were stood a figure, looming over one of the city's buildings. His eyes were narrowed at your intertwined hands and a low growl escaped his lips.
"How dare he hold onto my princess like that. I'll make sure he suffers dearly for it." His eyes then drifted to you.
"And her, she must think she's so very clever." His eyes remained focused on your figure, and he stretched his arm out in your direction, as if wanting to grasp you in his hand. "You may have escaped this time (y/n), but you'll be back soon enough, I'll make sure of it."
He watched you two until you completely faded into the distance. And as he watched, he came up with a new plan to lure you out.
He chuckled darkly. "You may think you're safe now, but even your friends can't keep you away from me."
He faded into the shadows, with his menacing laugh echoing through the streets.
Elsewhere, you and Yuma finally reached his home, but a sudden chill went up your spine. You shuddered and looked behind you.
"Why do I have this uneasy feeling?"
"Hey (y/n), are you coming in or not?"
"Oh! Sorry I'm coming!" You hurried over and entered his house. That uneasy feeling was still there, and you tried your best to clear your mind.
