"What was that kingdom? And all those people..." You kept murmuring to yourself while those vivid images kept replaying in your mind.
"Please..." You placed a palm on your forehead "make it stop..."
More tears rolled down your cheeks in an almost endless stream, and you just couldn't understand why. It was just a nightmare, none of it was real. None of it was real. But even as you repeated that mantra, the tears didn't stop. Everything felt too real, it felt as if you were actually there, helpless and immobile, watching the horrifying end of a civilization.
You shakily wiped away your tears and tried to calm your heart, which had begun beating faster than usual. And as you finally tamed the whirling emotions that had overcome you, you thought to yourself.
'Why? Why that dream and why me? It doesn't make any sense!'
You shut your eyes and shook your head in denial. Ever since Vector had revealed himself everything seemed to spiral out of control. First it was his inexplicable obsession with you and now it was these vivid nightmares. What could possibly be next?
Your eyes were now glued to the ground, and you recalled the events of that nightmare once more. As horrifying as it was, the strongest emotion you felt during it all wasn't fear or anger, but sorrow.
The figure of the supposed prince came to mind.
Despite the chaos all around you, all you could focus on was him. And that deep sorrow you felt....was for him. But why? This mysterious prince kept occupying your mind.
"He almost felt....familiar somehow...."
A ridiculous notion, but you couldn't shake off that feeling, and the more you thought about it, the more pain you felt in your chest. It was as if thinking about the mysterious prince brought forth waves of grief that felt all too familiar.
Once again, tears began to pool out of your eyes and you couldn't bring yourself to stop them. It was just too painful, that nightmare and the feelings it brought with them, it became unbearable. You didn't even bother masking your choked sobs, you didn't even care if you woke your friend up. You just felt awful.
There was some rustling coming from Yuma's hammock and then a drowsy voice called out. "(Y/n)..?" There was some more movement and Yuma slowly sat up while rubbing his eyes.
You sniffled. "Sorry Yuma," You lazily wiped your tears away. "For waking you up this early and showing you how pitiful I am."
"Huh? What are you-?" He finally got a good look at you, and when he saw your tears he practically jumped out of his hammock and kneeled in front of you. "W-what's wrong (y/n)!? What happened?!" He was frantically looking you over, trying to figure out what was wrong.
You kept wiping away your tears however, choosing not to answer right away.
"Please (y/n)," Yuma's eyes grew soft, "why are you crying?"
You finally looked up to meet his gaze, and with a shaky smile, you responded. "I really don't know myself, Yuma."
And that was the truth. Despite the familiarity and other emotions you felt, you still couldn't make any sense of it. So for the next few minutes Yuma did all he could to calm you down until you were ready to tell him what you saw. It was a bit difficult to put into words, but you managed to explain it to him. Yuma listened attentively and even Astral showed himself to listen in on the story.
But by the end of it both of them believed it was nothing more than a nightmare caused by all the stress Vector had placed on you. Astral even suggested it could've been caused by the mark he placed on your chest. You listened to their words and chose to believe them, despite your mind second guessing them. And seeing as how it was still early, you and Yuma went back to sleep with no more trouble after that. But you'd be lying if you said the morning after wasn't a little awkward. He did see you break down in tears after all. You hoped he'd keep it between you two.
