Today is the day. The day I will be officially related to Emily Paige Mellet, Connor Joel Kyle Mellet and Paisley Rose Summers- even though technically I am already related to Emily and Connor.
About six months after we arrived in Maine, Nirvana gave birth to twins. Like we discussed they were named after other people we were with along the way.
Me and Trevor went for a walk one day and met Annie's daughter. She wasn't kidding when she said Leigha loves Trevor. She was studying makeup art in school, so she offered to help with Nirvana's makeup today.
One of the abandoned shops in this complex was a wedding shop. We raided the shop until we found the perfect dress for her and a nice tux for Dad.
Trevor is singing at the reception, and Saige- a friend we've made that lived in New York, but then came here after the outbreak- made a cake as well.
We can't deny the amazing help we have been given throughout this experience. Baby clothes have taken over the house and we have enough food to sink a ship.
Annie has been looking after Connor and Emily, and she will bring them to the wedding later.
This morning we woke up at six o'clock due to pure excitement. We shooed Dad and Trevor out of the house so we can all get ready.
We each have a shower, and once Nirvana's out Leigha bursts through the front door.
"Hello everyone!!" She bursts.
"Hi," we say monotonously.
"Why are you so dull? It's the biggest thing to happen since the legalisation of gay marriage in America!"
"Not as big of a scale, Leigh," Nirvana hushes.
"Oh well, you two, shoo!" She motions us out of the room so we can ready ourselves.
We walk out of the room and go to Paisley's room to get prepared. We both wear baby pink dresses.
Paisley styles our hair into flowing curls that cascade down our backs, and we go back to Nirvana's room to check on the progress.
She looks stunning, her hair still needs to be done by Paisley, but otherwise her makeup is done with a foil like colour. Her dress is full length, sleeveless and poofs out at the waist.
"Wow, Mum you look amazing!" Paisley squeals.
"I'm not allowed to see what I look like."
"Trust us, you look stunning, Nirvana," I say. "Paisley and Nirvana can go to Paisley's room and Leigha can do my makeup."
I go out with them to get Leigha's dress, but come back a minute later to see what was a mess, is now makeup piled up beautifully.
I hand over the dress and she quickly gets changed while I get myself comfy on the chair set out.
A few minutes later she tells me she's finished and I look at the end result in the mirror. She put some neutral eyeshadow and lengthening mascara on my eyes, and a dark nude on my lips.
"Thanks, Leigha, it looks great."
"It's fine, you look great."
"Thanks, I'm going to go meet the guys and get everything ready."
"Okay, we'll meet you there."
"Cool beans," I say walking out of the house.
I walk down the alleyways to the church to see Trevor practicing a song I haven't heard before but as soon as he sees me he stops singing.
