After the earthquake, the village was bustling.

The males were busy repairing, building and finalizing defenses. Because we could expect an influx of visitors, I had told my males what little I knew about crisis prevention and security details. With my information, they created perimeter check schedules and set up checkpoints. Any new beasts could be intercepted and investigated before allowed into the village.

We notified the Peacock Village of the possibility of refugees and they agreed to help us build temporary one room shelters. We determined it best to build the shelters in Bailey's Burrow, (which the villagers refused to rename) as the peacock's defenses consisted of one four marked beast, Alva's father, and the two marked beast, Alva. Everyone else was single striped or lower. Plus, Alva was almost always hanging around lakeside.

I also stayed busy. My new job was herding cats. It was fine for a while but I was quickly losing patience as my cubs were destroying my house. Between Kit egging them on and Baek and Tora's need to explore through their mouths, anything at ankle level had slobber and bite marks all over it. That included all ankles. It didn't matter which of my mates it was, whoever was home would have a kitten attached to each leg as they tried to walk around the house without injuring the fuzzy leaches. When they weren't terrorizing my mates and I, they were terrorizing each other. Tora never let Baek have a moment of peace and not only once did I find little white stuffed into a drawer or closet after having lost a wrestling match.

At the age of forty days, I decided it was time to introduce the menaces to society. I had previously promised the females and Laura that I would introduce the cubs to them. The earthquake had delayed my plans as I didn't want us getting in the way of construction. But if I spent one more day trapped inside with vampire cats, I might bite them back the next time they leave red marks on my tits. Thankfully, they only needed to nurse about thirty percent of the time. I was seriously debated just squeezing milk into bowls but I enjoyed the cuddles too much.

After finishing up this morning's painful milking session, I got up, put on my overalls, snakeskin tube top and plopped the kittens that like looked like they were about to eat my third set of pillows into their cub basket. They gave me questioning looks as I lifted them up.

"We're going outside." Their eyes brightened. They had always wondered where Papa Winston went during the day and always begged to be allowed to follow. I think Winston must have told them a little bit about our home and the village but since I don't speak tiger, I can only assume. And even if he did, I have no idea how much they understood. "You must stay in the basket at all times or at my side. If you wander off, I wont let you outside again." I warned in a serious tone.

They gave me what I hoped was a 'scout's honor' look. I picked up the basket and headed downstairs. It was Harvey's turn to stay home with me and he looked up from setting the dining table with salad and fried eggs when he heard my descent. He gave me one of his brighter than the sun smiles and helped me bring the cubs the rest of the way down.

"Are you taking them out today?" He asked as he set the basket of kittens on the wide table.

"Yup. I'm going to introduce them to Tristan's little brothers and Laura."

Harvey's smile softened at the mention of the three fox kits that had almost lost their aging mother. Even though it was only one season ago, so much had happened in between now and then that it felt like years. Fox kits grew faster than tigers but they would still be close enough in age to be good playmates.

"That sounds like a great idea. Have a seat and eat breakfast. I will pack some snacks and mint water since today will be hot."

While Harvey packed the essentials, I stuffed my face. I gave Baek and Tora a small bite of egg but they mainly played with it instead of eating it. At some point, it went flying into Tora's face, instigating a brawl in the basket.
