*Now ya'll know I don't usually do trigger warnings but the very end of this chapter has mention of non-consensual sex. No lemons. I don't do details. Some of you may hate me for this chapter but I swear there is a reason for all of it. And I had to write in the way the characters would truly act. This chapter earns the 18+ age rating.

Ryan held me in Mitchell's arms until my tears stopped.

What I felt was indescribable. People and beasts alike have always shared the hope that we could one day reunite with those who have passed on and tell them everything we couldn't say before they left. I got that chance. It was horrible and wonderful at the same time. Horrible knowing this wasn't the natural way of things but wonderful in that I could experience a moment in reality that wasn't the natural way of things. I didn't want to let it go.

If Mitchell were to take off Ryan's soul stone, would I ever be able to talk to him again? Would I have to bury his stone deep into the earth and let the years fade the color of his memories? Would I have to let him return to the cycle of death and possible rebirth? Would I have to say goodbye a second time? I wasn't sure I was strong enough for that.

And what about what he wanted? He had been given sentience and a body. Would he even want to return to be nothing more than a time capsule waiting for the gods to take his heart and place it into the spokes of another wheel of fate? If I had had that choice, is that what I would have chosen?

As I was pulled into Mitchell's lap with Mitchell's chest pressed into my back, all I could feel was Ryan. I pondered my options and found myself entirely too lacking and far too selfish to make such a profound decision.

"BB. You're so quiet. What are you thinking about? Are you sad that I came back?" The arms around me tensed in fear of my answer.

I leaned into Mitchell's broad chest, entirely too muscled to have been Ryan's which was more on the slim side, and told him the truth. "No. I'm happy you're back. I'm just terrified of losing you again."

"And me?" A mocking tone interrupted with the same voice. "I feel as though I am an unwanted third party despite it being my body I'm letting your mate so generously use."

Though the mind that controlled the arms around me had changed, I stayed where I was, "Scorpion King. I understand your father wants me to raise your dead mother for him, but what about you? What is it you want from me?"

"I want you to call me by my name. It's Mitchell." He pulled me tighter against him. "And I want you. I've never desired a female before. I've never desired much of anything. But I never knew a female's skin could feel so soft and warm. Could smell so good." He sniffed my hair deeply.

I shivered a little. It wasn't odd for a beast to act in a way that would be considered harassment to humans, especially one that was cold blooded. But his intentions and his own lack of self-awareness made him far too unpredictable to be anything but creepy.

"You want me to make you one of my mates." I stated his intention aloud.

I could hear him scoff just behind my right ear. "No. I want to make you my mate and I will be your only one. I want to keep you where I can touch you whenever I wish, and in time you will come to love me."

"So you would repeat the mistakes of your father." I couldn't help but blurt my thoughts.

His entire body tensed and his grip on my upper arms became bruising tight.

"What do you know of my father?" he snarled.

Oops. I had forgotten I wasn't supposed to know anything about the ancient scorpion.
