a/n - and just a forewarning, to all my Dragonball OG watchers, I changed most of the tournament, fighters are switched into different matches and some happen off-screen and some don't happen at all but some are somewhat the same.
-------
The martial arts tournament unfolded with a flurry of preliminary rounds, each participant vying for a chance to prove their mettle. As the battles raged on, Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin competed in their respective matches. Amidst the chaos, they still hadn't found an opportunity to talk to Goka about the mysterious figure resembling King Piccolo.
Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin searched for her throughout the preliminary rounds, catching glimpses but never managing to engage in a conversation. It was during one of Goka's matches that they finally found her. As swiftly as they spotted her, she vanished again, leaving them puzzled.
As the time for the actual matches approached, they finally found Goka watching the start of Tien's fight against Mercenary Tao. The tension in the air was palpable as they approached her.
Yamcha approached first, throwing a casual arm around Goka. "Hey there, where've you been? We've been looking for you."
Goka grinned, her eyes fixed on the matches. "Just around and about, didn't think we'd miss each other in this chaos."
Krillin, raising an eyebrow, asked, "You could've at least stayed with us. We were a bit worried."
Goka chuckled, dismissing their concern. "No need to worry, guys. I'm here now, and I'm ready for the real action."
Before further questions could be posed, the attention shifted to the unfolding battle in the ring. Tien faced the formidable Mercenary Tao, whose sinister reputation preceded him. The two fighters exchanged a series of high-speed attacks, the tension escalating with each move.
"Tien's got this," Yamcha muttered, glancing at Goka, who responded with a confident nod.
Tien's movements were a display of mastery, his every strike calculated and precise. Mercenary Tao, known for his ruthless tactics, attempted to outmaneuver Tien, but the Crane School/Turtle School warrior proved a formidable opponent.
In a flurry of strikes, Tien unleashed a relentless assault. The fight reached its climax when Tien, with unparalleled speed, sent a series of attacks at Mercenary Tao before landing a devastating punch to his stomach. Mercenary Tao crumpled, unable to talk or move.
As Tien emerged victorious, the Z Fighters congratulated him. Goka, Yamcha, and Krillin exchanged impressed glances. Tien, catching sight of Goka, made his way towards the group.
"Nice job, Tien!" Yamcha cheered.
Goka patted Tien on the back. "That was incredible. You've really stepped up your game."
Tien nodded, acknowledging the compliment. "Thanks, Goka. But the real challenge is yet to come."
Next up was Yamcha's match against Chi-Chi. Goka turned to Yamcha, offering words of encouragement. "You've got this, Yamcha. Show 'em what you're made of."
Yamcha grinned, confidence radiating from him. "Don't worry, Goka. I'll make this quick."
Goka could sense the unspoken questions in Krillin and Tien's eyes. Curiosity getting the better of them, Krillin and Tien seized the opportunity to inquire about Goka's feelings regarding Chi-Chi's presence. The air grew tense as they broached the subject.
"How do you feel about Chi-Chi being here?" Tien finally voiced the lingering curiosity.
Goka, seemingly nonchalant, responded, "Doesn't bother me. Everyone's free to enter if they can handle it."
