Annie would not make it out of those games alive.

That's the one thing I knew. when Annie was little, I used to take her fishing and sometimes I would take her hunting. I loved taking her hunting, it made me feel like we were doing something together. Lincoln and I would run out into the forest with her but she sobbed so hard when I murdered a rabbit she declared that she would never hunt again.

But I couldn't imagine her fishing or hunting, due to the fact she cared so much. But I am not like that, I know that I have to do the hard tasks to get the reward clearly at the end.

I'm back into reality. I look around.

I saw Lincoln's face.

I saw Markus' face.

Hell, I saw my father's face.

All the same look. A traumatised awfulness in their eyes as the colour drains from their faces, the sound of ringing in their ears and the patchless silence. None of the boys can volunteer for her. my father cannot stop this, he knows that she has to go into those games and has no choice but to try and fend for her life desperately.

But I have a chance to stop this. you can volunteer, no one in my District tends to do so anymore, we haven't had many winners. Finnick was the last one, and before him it had taken just under two decades.

I'm in reality again, I can see Annie there. her face is paralyzed; her eyes are about to cry.

And I know one thing.

I have to stop her.

"Annie!" I scream into the crowd, I'm running. My legs are sprinting across the crowds. They do not stop me.

"Annie!" They know Annie, everyone knows Annie. She is sweet-smelling, she is compassionate and she is loving. But they also know one thing; she is fragile and she has no combat skills. She will die in that arena; she will die in that bloodbath.

"Annie!" I don't even need to shove through the crowd, they let me through. Everyone knows how sweet and compassionate Annie is and how no one wants to see her in the games.

"Annie!" I'm running as fast as I can, towards the stage where Annie is walking too with Peacekeepers near her. I am not letting my little sister die in this moment.

Annie turns back and notices me standing there, her pained expression is now turned to one or realisation when she realises what I am about to do. I feel myself pull her off of the marble steps that lead up to the stage. I pull her close to me and just look her in the eyes.

"I volunteer!" I scream out. I know what I have just done. Elodie's head turns immediately to me, peaking her interest. "I volunteer!"

"Sera what are you doing...Sera no!" Annie screams out, her voice is dry and hoarse as she realises the extent of what I was about to do. "Sera you can't. you can't die!"
